Just to make sure, when you were setting up the Control Bar button for the Trade Configuration - did you select the "Customize" button and assign the specific Trade Configuration to the Control Bar button? If so, then as long as that control bar button is still added to a control bar (even one that is not displayed) then a keyboard shortcut for the same number should work.
