What I meant by timed alert was an alarm clock app set to go off every nth interval so you can remember to press scan. I recognize this is not the best solution. Never done it, but probably could create an alert to go off every n minutes, but I can't make it automatically scan the watchlist, so it would be rather useless for you purpose.
