I was having the same IB error message today: Trade Order Error - Cannot submit non-simulated order when in Trade Simulation Mode. The way I solved it was I opened up and cleared the Trade Activity Log and the Trade Service Log. Open up the Trade Menu using the Menu Bar. Select 'Clear Trade Simulation Orders and Data' (Right hand side of Trade Menu). You can open up the Trade Activity Log and Trade Service Log from the Trade Menu. Open the Trade Activity Log and make sure the drop down list shows 'All Accounts'. Open the Trade Service Log and select Edit and Clear Log to clear the Trade Service Log. The Trade Menu also has the Trade Orders, Trade Positions and Trade Account Monitor / Balances Window. Go to the Trade Menu and Uncheck 'Trade Simulation Mode On'.
