First, make sure the Lock Fill Space option is not enabled. Then click on the right arrow on the far bottom right of the scrollbar at the bottom to scroll the chart to the left and create the space you want (you can also use your scroll wheel on your mouse if it is setup to do this - which is the default). Once you have the spacing to the right the way you want it, select Chart >> Lock Fill Space. That is it, you will have the right side space always locked and the bars will not fill into that space.
