At this point we are publicly complaining to CTS that the way that CTS handles symbols is unreliable and they are causing problems for us, and for customers.
This is a very sad situation . We have given them a simple solution to implement to solve the problem, but as of yet they have not acknowledged any interest in it.
And yet the solution that we suggested is to work how every other trading platform service works. CTS is unique in that a market ID, unique key, has to be resolved for an outright futures contract. We cannot simply subscribe to market data for a futures contract by specifying the symbol. We have to go through a two-step process looking for this unique key. If anything fails in that process, then it leads to these kinds of problems.
We need someone to restart Sierra Chart, open your charts, let us know what the symbol of one of them that has a problem, then post a copy of the Message Log by following these steps:
What we suspect is happening is that there is a problem with the Security definition data coming back from CTS, if any, and we cannot resolve the market ID. We have seen this issue from them. Or you are using a symbol that has no available market ID and which is causing some delays with data downloading.
