I was curious about this also. The Account Balance Text - External Service study also has a delay in it for I assume the same reasons as the new Trade Account Monitor window. I have written a custom study that I've been using for a while that I use for monitoring account balance and margin info etc. It does display the "linked" account balance but I also calculate the "real-time" balance using the formula Broker Day Begin Balance + todays closed trades + an active trade if there is one. Once a trade is closed eventually the "linked" balance from Dorman (or TT?) catches up to my calculated account balance. While a trade is active, I base may max quantity of contracts, so as not to trigger margin, on the real-time balance I am calculating assuming this is the balance that Dorman or TT has for me but has just not beamed it over yet. I have yet to get liquidated doing this.

I know SC supports user contributed studies and I would be willing to contribute this one. The other thing this study does is take into account whether NLV or EMR type margin formulas are in use for a particular instrument. In other words, MES uses NLV of $100 whereas ES uses 5% of CME initial margin (or 12100 * .05 = $605) for its margin requirement. So, It still takes $990 of equity to enter an ES but you have down to $605 per contract before liquidation. If MES used EMR the margin would be $60.50 but according to Stage5 Risk Desk they use $100 because this is how Dorman does it. Let me know if I can help.

lol - Just to have some wine with my cheese, it blows me away how day margins can be so different across firms. For instance, AMP uses $400 and $40 for ES and MES respectively, and the margin call is 80% loss of your days beginning balance. GFF through Advantage is at $660 and $66 last I checked. I haven't checked on their liquidation policy. I use Dorman through Stage5 and I have ES $990 and MES $100. Before you ask, I tried AMP but they don't seem to like LLC's.
