This will just be a one time update requirement to the current version at the time.

We probably will not actually lock out older versions but disable historical daily data downloading and disable the DTC protocol server.

Although effectively these things would mean most users will have to update.

What we are communicating here is you cannot be expecting to be running a particular version, that goes back a year or many years and think you can continuously do that. At some point, an update will become mandatory. And when a version is significantly older (Usually +1 year), while generally there is not a problem with updating, sometimes some settings do not update.

Users should stay up-to-date to versions that are not older than 3 to 4 months.
