One thing that we meant to post recently, but just getting around to it now, is why it is important you keep Sierra Chart up-to-date and why you cannot be assured of being able to use and you will not be able to continue to use older Sierra Chart versions.

Sierra Chart is much more than just software. And that is also why whenever someone asks for a lifetime license the answer is absolutely not. Sierra Chart provides market data services. These have costs associated with them month-to-month. Sierra Chart is not software as a service. It is software, market data services and support services.

Sierra Chart interacts with external systems and sometimes are changes to those systems which we have to adapt to, or critical changes we need to make, or we fix issues with the interface to those systems.

We also may fix an important issue within Sierra Chart.

And in these cases, updating to the current version is necessary.

There are some changes, related to exchange compliance, which we have to do in Sierra Chart and we are going to be locking out all older versions within the next 30 days. We will provide an update to users.

And also we are not going to be able to allow CME Group historical data to be accessed through the DTC protocol server:
Data and Trading Communications (DTC) Protocol Server

Sierra Chart will be able to access it itself, when using a sub instance of Sierra Chart:
Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance

However, users will not be able to access it independently.

And this has already been stated here for over a year:
Data and Trading Communications (DTC) Protocol Server: Restrictions

So it is out of the question, support for significantly older versions. We know there is one user, sometimes who writes extensively about that. We are just going to be ignoring that. Do not post about that.
