first of all I am very relieved that I can continue using Bitmex with SC - thanks a lot, SC!

But we do believe that the future of crypto currency trading must be decentralized. The only reason for centralization is low latency trading and also trading on margin. But it does seem as though there should be a way to do this in a more open fair way.

I agree with you there. But for me, Bitcoin margin trading is essentially a good instrument for day trading: liquid and volatile.

Total rubbish, can see why SC don't want to support it. Have you tried Deribit?

That's true, but Bitmex is wonderfully liquid. I have looked at Deribit, but the market there is thin. Furthermore there is no connection to SC...

System overload is certainly a problem with Bitmex, but most of the time I can still make a profit in such a situation, but my "brute force" order routine needs 15-20 retries, so about 3-5 seconds (I am in Frankfurt/Germany, so latency to Dublin is acceptable).
