We looked into this problem a little further.

We do not see how Sierra Chart in any way would cause a Chartbook file to go missing. This would be impossible so there must be some external cause.

We have seen cases where a Chartbook file becomes invalid because it consists of nothing but zeros. This would mean something went wrong during the saving process. When Sierra Chart saves the Chartbook, currently it tells the operating system to truncate the file and probably the operating system first sets the entire file to zeros. This is only a conclusion, we are not sure about this. And then the process of saving begins. This is a very reliable process and nothing should go wrong, but perhaps something is for some unknown reason.

We have never seen a problem like us ourselves, but we have seen cases of it among users. There were some recent changes to safeguard against this kind of problem, the method of saving has changed to prevent the operating system from erasing the file at the beginning of the save process, but they were not properly implemented. So we are going to fix that particular issue. However, this will not cause a file to become deleted.

Overall this kind of problem with saving a Chartbook would not be a Sierra Chart problem but something external causing a file not to save properly. Possibly even a bug in a custom study.
