to the SC response for arranging charts - that doesn't seem to have any effect when the charts are Detached and then when I left click on the SC icon on the task bar (of the Windows OS) and get the list of all detached charts (that's a Windows OS function) - the charts in that list seem to be sorted by their SC chart number and any chart arrangement through the SC menu doesn't have any effect on that sorting to tomgilb - thank you, yes I have arrived at similar process (which I was hoping was going to be only temporary but now it is clear this is going to be a permanent solution) - it consists of exactly what you have described but with the only difference that I use two chart books and just copy the charts from the old to the new chartbook in the order I want and hence they appear with the required sequence numbers
