Post From: CQG Data feed Disconnects during volume spikes

Okay thanks. Yes it certainly is reasonable to infer that there may be a problem with my system. I do have a 6700hq quad core but it does thermal throttle easily due to a subpar paste job.

I don't think a CPU usage spike to 99% is that unusual when loading a chartbook with 12 charts all with days to load set to 3650. As you state here: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/helpdetails30.html#TooMuchDataToLoadOrLoaded, this is something that would stress the CPU. I only performed this action as an extreme experiment to stress test my system. I was just surprised to see that in addition to freezing, the datafeed would disconnect on its own too. Of course, maybe this was not due to SC but maybe my computer's network adapter drops connection during an extremely high CPU load. Who knows.

I am not aware of what my CPU usage was at 10:38am EST today during the high volume crash down on NQ b/c I didn't have task manager open during that time. I don't really care about the freezing + datafeed disconnect while loading a ton of charts with a ton of days loaded. That was just an unrealistic stress test. I am more concerned about this happening during realistic conditions.

For now, I'll increase the chart update interval, not use detached charts (High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.42 - Detached Charts), and I'll follow the advice you posted today (Overview of Trading: Sierra Chart Configuration for Most Low Response Time Trading). If the freeze + data disconnect still happens, I may have to get a new computer.
