Pardon me, I'm new to SC, trading, all of it. Do I understand you correctly that I'm paying for an SC Platform and SC Datafeed, but that SC can't connect to the exchange, rather it needs me to also have a connection (CQG, Rithmic, whatever)? So to get SC datafeed to work with my broker, I also need to use a CQG connection (or Rithmic, etc)?

If that's the case, what is it that I'm getting by paying for SC's datafeed. When I connect through CQG, it appears to have all the market depth that SC's datafeed has.

Just so I can be clear about my current setup and goals:

I have three connections.
- The first is paid for by me, apart from AMP. This is SC datafeed. I pay for both the platform (pkg 5) and the datafeed independently of AMP. It does not work for live trading, though the setup instructions implied that it would.
- The second and third are affiliated through AMP, where I also pay for the SC Platform again (pkg 5). I have a second SC account provided for me by AMP.

My goal is to use one of the CQG feeds to record tick data and the other CQG feed to replay that data, as well as having backup mobile access / web access. The reason I have two CQG connections is so I can use them both at the same time in separate instances of SC. One instance records my symbols with a higher chart update interval. The other instance has to be CQG as well because CQG uses it's own symbols.

When I go to work, I have time to trade or follow the markets at various points in the day. While the machine at home is using one CQG datafeed to record data, I want to use my SC datafeed at this time at work to live trade or sim trade and leave the third CQG connection untouched and available for backup / emergencies via mobile.

When I set up the SC service & datafeed, the instructions stated that I have to have a funded account with a broker, and that if I did not have a funded account with a broker, I would not be able to trade. Does that not imply that I should be able to trade through my SC datafeed / connection? There was no mention on the SC datafeed setup instructions of needing to have a separate connection via CQG, Rithmic, etc. (that I recall... maybe I am just confusing the terms used).
