Since the release of the new network communication core in Sierra Chart, we have had a handful of reports, where historical daily data requests have been failing for some users. Most of these types of requests are considered web/HTTP requests and these are the ones which have been failing.

In all of these cases, the user was running a third-party firewall. In some cases it was known to be Avast. Whether all users who have had trouble have been running this particular firewall, we do not know.

We have known that the problem is due to a firewall although the communication behavior the firewall is causing is unusual and more like a communication throttling rather than an outright block.

We made changes in the way that Sierra Chart makes these request by sending them as one block of data rather than smaller blocks of data. This has resolved the problem.

This issue is resolved in the latest revision of 1538. Update with Help >> Download Prerelease.

Somewhat related, is that you may have noticed a Windows error message when Sierra Chart exits. This would happen when Sierra Chart is exiting and during the very final cleanup that it is doing.

This error is harmless, but this is also resolved as well.
