I don't understand why the "Display 'text' Tab on Chart Drawing Properties Window" option is set to "No" by default instead of "Yes". I spent a lot of time trying to find it, and as someone who is just starting out with Sierra Chart, it was quite difficult to locate this setting—especially to even know what it's called. It would have been much easier if it had been enabled by default. Just a suggestion that might help other new users save some time and frustration. Best regards, Marek |

Is it possible to permanently save a custom Tool Configuration (e.g., TC1) that includes not just the style of a drawing (e.g., line color, width), but also predefined text associated with the drawing? Currently, I have a line tool set up and saved under TC1, and when I draw it on the chart, I want a specific label to appear with it automatically (like "POC" or "Target Zone"). This works if I copy the line on the same chart – the text stays. However, when I go to another chart and draw the line using TC1, the visual configuration loads correctly, but the custom text does not – it reverts to default (blank). Is there a way to embed or bind that text label directly into the saved Tool Configuration file so it persists across charts? If so, could you point me to the proper way to configure it? Thanks in advance! |

I’m still I don't know how to permanently assign a name or label (some text) to a line in Sierra Chart, in such a way that: The text is always visible on the chart next to the line when I place it. I don’t have to re-enter this text every time I draw the line. This should work regardless of which chart or Chartbook I’m using (for example, on ES or NASDAQ, etc.). Right now, I can see the text only when I copy a line that already had the text, but it’s only saved within a single Chartbook, not globally. I did find the "Display Text" option in the drawing properties, and I can add text manually, but I want this to be saved permanently – as a default – so every time I draw this specific type of line, the label appears automatically in the chart Could someone please answer clearly if this is even possible? And if it is, then please provide step-by-step instructions, not just links to outdated menus or vague documentation. If it’s not possible, just say so directly it's impossible Thanks! |

This can be done and the information for how to do it is contained in the link we gave above. The general idea is that you create a configuration up front, for a drawing and enable the option for "Copy Config Name to Text". When you save the configuration, be sure to enter a "Configuration Name" which will then become the text that is displayed. I've got it. Thanks a lot " General Settings - tool settings - for example "Horizontal line config" and then click and “Copy Config Name to Text” to YES and apply and ok and that's it. a piece of cake

I'm being totally honest here – I've been trying to figure this out for a while. I'm trying to permanently assign a custom text label to the Horizontal Ray tool. I managed to get it working twice with TC2 and TC3, and everything seems to be set up correctly. But when I try the same thing with TC4 and TC5, either the previous text gets copied over or there's no text at all. Is there anyone here who actually knows the full secret and could walk me through the steps, one by one? I'm at my limit – my head's about to explode. Or maybe I just have a broken version of Sierra... I believe someone kind enough will show up and help – just let me know what to do, where to click, and how to save it permanently. It can't take more than 5 minutes to write it out. I'll buy a beer. |

Sorry for the confusion, guys. I thought "Copy Tool Config Name To Text" was a global setting for all tool configurations. Now I understand that you have to set it to "Yes" individually for each TC. Phew, I can finally move on! 😅 But hey, if anyone’s up for a beer, I’m buying :) |
