Large Volume Trade Indicator glitch?

Hi, I used to use the study without any problem, but with the recent updates I have problem using it.

Currently the study only works when 'Volume at Price Mult.' of the chart is set to 1.

It won't draw any marks when the setting is larger than 1.

Draw mode I use is 'Based on total volume above threshold'

Could you look into the issue? thanks.

We have resolved this issue. The fix will be in the next Pre-Release (v 2356). When available, you can update using the Fast Update instructions here:

I've noticed over the last few weeks what appears to be random 'large volume trades' not being displayed. There are enough trades displayed to give the impression it's working but while watching the tape closely I see many not appearing.

Last night an order for 49 hit the tape and did not mark on the chart. NQ - Volume threshold set to 25, based on Total Volume Above Threshold. See the attached Time & Sales screenshot.

FYI - Current SC ver 2362 (But I've noticed it across previous versions)

Do you have any Combining occurring in your Time and Sales?

No. Not looking at time and sales I have been seeing my volume profile bid/ask difference showing a trade 'should' appear on Large Volume but wasn't now getting confirmation on Time & Sales.

Combine records -> Do Not Combine and Combine Filtering below all empty.

I just updated to version 2368 & did a replay of that time last night and the 49 order shows up on the large volume indicator. Maybe you all fixed the issue from 2364 and prior? I'll try & keep a T&S window open to compare...

There should not be any difference, as the only changes to the Large volume Trade Indicator were last done in 2355.

Definitely let us know if you see any discrepancies. We will need to see the Time and Sales in order to be able to track down the issue to the individual trade.

Hi all,

I noticed that the "Alert Sound" for this indicator (Large Volume Trade) only plays once per bar even though the "Alert Only Once per Bar" is NOT checked. In fact, the only thing that is checked is "Enabled". I wonder if that's just how it is or I've not configured something properly. The sound would play again on a new bar if the threshold is hit again though.

Thanks.

How exactly are you setting up the alert?

Hi John,

Thanks for your response. I set it to 80 for the threshold. I've combined all the screenshots into one picture so you can see it all at once. The left side is the chart of today's ES. If you look at it, you see the last few bars have many large volumes displayed but it only generated 2 alerts from the Alert Manager (top of the picture). The rest are the 3 tabs of the settings for the study itself. From the log, it looks like it only alerts once per bar. I tried with 2 as the threshold to test it with a lower number and it was the same. I also tried the formula (SG1>0) as well - same results, one alert.

You have us rather confused. The Large Volume Trade Indicator does not create "alerts" directly. In other words, each time a marker is printed on the chart, there is not an Alert created, so there will not be anything in the Alert manager.

The reason you got the two alerts was from when you added the information in the Alert tab with the formula =(SG1 >= 80). In this case, whenever the Maximum Trade Volume got above 80 for a bar, you would then get an alert.

If you tell us exactly what you want to accomplish, then we can help you get it setup, but we do not understand exactly what you are trying to do at this time.

I see. So that's where I got it wrong. I thought that each time a large volume trade hits the threshold and there's a condition set under the "Alerts" tab then that condition would get evaluated every single time as well, and therefore, it would play the sound each time too. The thing is that it would get evaluated again the next bar though.

Alright, let's say I want to have the sound "Alert 10" played each time there's a large volume trade - even within the same bar. How could it be configured?

I am still new to SC and just barely scratched its surface, but I must say I am very impressed by its complexity and what it can do. Kudos to the SC team!

Thanks.

There is not a way to do exactly what you want. You can get the first notification of a large trade that is greater than a certain amount, but since the Alerts are setup to require a False to True state, there is not a way to get any additional notifications.

The only way to do this would be to create a custom study that checks the volume and then gives an alert when that volume changes. Refer to the information about creating custom studies starting here:
Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL)

We also recommend contacting a user on this board with the board name of "Ackin". He has a lot of studies that he has produced and gives away for free. He may already have one that does what you want. If you do a search for his name you will find him.
