That video is way too long :), can you explain what you are looking for?

You can do this with 6 instances of the Color Bar Based On Alert Condition study.

There are 6 colors, 2 green, 2 red, 2 blue, hence the name GRaB (Green, Red, and Blue)

The colors are determined by where the closing price is relative to the 34EMA wave, and whether the bar closes up or down. Without watching the video, the only unknown is how the wave is made.

It looks like each one is based upon the HLC, respectively.

Here's a study collection that does this.

Put the attached in your Sierra Chart \Data folder, open a new chart, click on Analysis >> GRaB candles 34EMA wave-

*** This older version will not work in versions later than 2204.
See post #10 for the updated version.

I would like to add this GRaB candles to my set up on Sierra.

I have successfully added the file into Data on the C:Drive, but cannot now complete the final step and add into ‘Studies Available’.

Got any suggestions.

Regards, Bill

That study collection needed to be updated for the latest SC versions.

Attached is the updated version.

Thanks for this latest version, but I still have a problem.

When I go into Global Settings, then General Settings I still see the 'old' version in Study Collection. How do I remove the old version and replace with this new one?

The Message Log (below) says it cannot see the GRaB file, but I have checked and it is definitely still there in C:SierraChart/Data

I hope this helps -

You are still accessing the old file.

The updated file has a "+" at the end of its name.
The old file has a "-" at the end.

To delete the old file, use Windows' File Explorer, and navigate to the C:SierraChart folder and delete it.

Note: The study collection adds 9 studies to the chart, and references are dependent on specific ID#s.
So add this to a blank chart to see how it looks, then add your other studies.

Almost there!
I have successfully added the "+" file to Data and when I open 'Analysis' and the 'Studies' I can see it in the 'Chart Studies' window under 'Save Studies as Study Collection'.
Despite clicking on 'Save All', I cannot seem to save it, which I presume would add it to 'Studies Available' on the left hand side of the window.
If I am indeed saving it, where can I then find it, to use it? What am I doing wrong?

P.S. I am sure this 'driver error' on my part so thanks for your patience!

A Study Collection will not appear in the 'Studies Available' list. It is not a individual study, but a collection of individual studies.

To use a Study Collection, go to Analysis and select it. This is the only location where it will appear.

Use Windows File Explorer, navigate to your Sierra Chart \Data folder, and delete all copies of GRaB candles 34EMA wave+.StdyCollct

Go to post #10 in this thread and download the attached file again.
Put it in your Sierra Chart \Data folder.

Then focus the chart, and go to Analysis >> GRaB candles 34EMA wave+
Choose 'Yes' when asked 'Clear existing studies on chart?'

I just did this and it works for me.

Hello Tom, sorry it has taken me so long to respond to this, but I have been busy elsewhere.

You wrote (earlier) "To use a Study Collection, go to Analysis and select it. This is the only location where it will appear."

Assuming you mean 'Analysis' in the top line tool bar, when I follow this instruction, the drop down only gives me -

Studies
Build Custom Studies DLL
New/Open Custom Studies File
Hide All Studies
Unhide All Studies

None of these options take me to the 'GRaB' file that (as per your instructions) I have definitely successfully uploaded to C:/Sierra Chart/Data

What am I doing wrong?

You apparently have no Study Collections yet.
They would appear below what you currently see.

So do this:

1. Verify the path to your Sierra Chart \Data folder:
- In Sierra Chart, go to Global Settings >> General Settings >> Paths tab >> Data Files Folder (Action)
Note this path.

2. Go to post #10 in this thread and click on the GRaB candles 34EMA wave+.StdyCollct link at the bottom of the post.
- This will download to the folder where you browser is set to place downloaded files.

3. Move, or copy/paste, that downloaded file from your browser's download location to the path noted in step 1 above.

4. In Sierra Chart, focus the chart you want this applied to, and go to Analysis (on the main menu) and you will see GRaB candles 34EMA wave+
- Click on it.
- Choose 'Yes' when asked 'Clear existing studies on chart?'
- This will remove all other studies, so you will need to add back any other study that got removed.
- It is necessary to remove all other studies because this Study Collection adds 9 studies to the chart, and references are dependent on specific ID#s.

Almost there!

I have successfully uploaded the study to 'Save Studies As A Study Collection' (and as you predicted all other studies got removed).

But now what? How do I transfer the study to 'Studies To Graph', so that I can set the parameters?

Sorry if I am being a bit thick and am missing something!

If you click on GRaB candles 34EMA wave+ in the Analysis menu, and click Yes when asked 'Clear existing studies on chart, it will load 9 studies.
See attached pic.

There are no parameters to set, except the colors, and the EMA lengths.

Still no success!

I am following your instructions to the letter, but to no avail.

So to be absolutely clear, once I click yes to 'Clear existing studies' the GRaB candles 34EMA wave+ should appear in 'Studies to Graph, as per your screen shoot, no?

Or is there another 'final' step?

Once again, sorry to be a nuisance!

No.
Once you click Yes to 'Clear existing studies on chart', 9 studies should appear in the 'Studies to Graph' list, as in the screen shot.

There is no further step.
These 9 studies work together to create the GRaB candle colors.
The colors are based on where the Close price is relative to the 3 EMAs.

Hi

Issue resolved!

I realised that there was a problem with the way I was down loading the file, which I have now fixed.

The Study works just as it should!
