Would be great to have a notification on the top far right of the Control Bar or something to let you know when new versions are released. Right now, I only get the random popup on launch for some new releases, but not all. If there's already something like this available, can someone point me to it? Can't find it. |

We do periodically put out update notices but this is infrequent. You will not get notices about prereleases.

That's my point. Maybe you could add something into the interface that tells you you're not using the most recent version. |

You can easily do this yourself. This will let you check for changes you care about on other pages as well. Add the extension Distill Web Monitor to Chrome (I guess there's a firefox equivalent). Click the little drop icon and select Add Webpage. Put www.sierrachart.com in at the top of the page, choose Select elements & then click on the box shown in the picture (or part of it if you only care about the release version). https://i.imgur.com/n9akIBH.png Save the selections and then choose check interval, actions (ring the bell, send you an email, pop up a notification etc). Then save your first monitoring task ... and go back to trading :) I have something similar running on my tablet & you could also do it as a python script. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2019-03-25 23:58:45

Kiwi, That's not the point of this request. It is common these days for apps to have menu item to check current version of the app and execute upgrade if user chooses to do so. What you offer might work, but it not a solution, it is work around. We know that Sierra can run some checks before starting the app. One of the common ones is to check your account balance and remind you if it is low. So, why not to add similar check to compare installed version versus latest official release? Thanks |

I guess I didn't make my point clear. It's really: "if you really want this then its easy to do it yourself." The Sierra Chart team seems very busy doing important things so my personal votes are: don't add unneeded extra complexity to Sierra Chart + don't add a task that a user can easily do another way. Then again I am a fan of the original Linux strategy: do one thing well. Like the Sierra team I do not admire IB's strategy of turning TWS into bloatware. So I vote: -1 Date Time Of Last Edit: 2019-03-26 02:50:45

Kiwi, In the end this application is developed for end users. Hence it should be comfortable to use by non-technical person. Of course, we can develop scheduled jobs etc as a stop gap solution here and there. Original request was a mere suggestion to add this functionality. Which could be done tomorrow or next month. It is for development team to decide when they can do it if they agreed to. At this point in time Sierra Chart is matured software and deserves to have this little add-on IMHO. Cheers |

That's fine. You can frame it as you like but I've offered an easy alternative for anyone who needs this functionality and my vote as an end user is -1 Date Time Of Last Edit: 2019-03-26 05:08:48

I think Kiwi has made a great point. Sierra are working very hard on some features that are important to a lot of users. Why distract them towards things that add zero trading functionality. |
