Chart does not refresh simulated position / order fills after changing T&CQ Symbol

Hello, I believe I have found an issue related to changing Trade and Current Quote Symbol and Use As Trade Only Symbol on an existing chart. I can reproduce two related problems. Scenario 1 – Simulated position is not displayed I have an MNQ chart: Symbol: MNQU26_FUT_CME I set: Trade and Current Quote Symbol: NQU26_FUT_CME Use As Trade Only Symbol: Yes I open a new simulated NQ position. The working NQ orders are displayed on the MNQ chart, but the simulated NQ position/position line is not displayed. Trade > Show Orders and Position is enabled. Trade > Only Orders From Chart is disabled. Reload/Recalculate and restarting Sierra Chart do not solve the problem. However, if I duplicate this chart, the newly created duplicate immediately displays the simulated NQ position correctly without changing any other settings. Scenario 2 – Historical order fills disappear after switching back On the same chart I remove the Trade and Current Quote Symbol: Trade and Current Quote Symbol: blank Use As Trade Only Symbol: No The chart is therefore again a normal MNQU26_FUT_CME chart. Historical MNQ order fills which should be displayed disappear from this chart. Show Order Fills is enabled. The fills exist in Trade Activity Log for exactly the same symbol and Trade Account. Load Order Fills for Current Day Only = No, and sufficient historical days are configured. Reload/Recalculate and restarting Sierra Chart do not restore the fills. Again, if I duplicate a working MNQ chart and change only its bar period to match the affected chart, all historical fills are immediately displayed correctly. Therefore this does not appear to be related to the symbol, Trade Account, bar period, or missing Trade Activity data. It appears that changing Trade and Current Quote Symbol / Use As Trade Only Symbol on an existing chart does not fully refresh or reinitialize the chart's trading state. Creating a duplicate of the chart appears to force this initialization and immediately fixes both the position-display and historical-fill-display issues. What you describe is not reproducible. And it is not something we will spend any further time looking into. This is definitely certain. This is definitely not true: It appears that changing Trade and Current Quote Symbol / Use As Trade Only Symbol on an existing chart does not fully refresh or reinitialize the chart's trading state.

We decided to look into this, just to make sure everything is working as expected. If you are reloading the chart with Chart >> Reload and Recalculate, what is called the Trades list in the chart is completely reset and refilled with order fills. This will not fail. Another thing you can do is enable and disable Trade >> Show Order Fills. We do see there are some conditions which should expressly cause reloading the order fills through Chart Settings like changing the Trade and Current Quote Symbol but the Chart gets reloaded in this condition anyway. Thank you for your response. It is very kind you looked further into it. I did some additional testing and it appears that the issue was related to my Sierra Chart installation rather than the functionality itself. This was a very old Sierra Chart installation which I have been continuously updating and migrating for many years. I created a completely fresh Sierra Chart installation and tested the same configuration there. So far, both the simulated position and historical order fills are displaying correctly when switching between the MNQ chart symbol and NQ Trade and Current Quote Symbol. I also tested newly created charts/chartbooks in the old installation and was still able to reproduce the inconsistent behavior there, so it seems that something in the old installation had become inconsistent over the years. I cannot identify exactly what caused it, but at this point a clean installation appears to have resolved the problem. Thank you. |

It happened again with a fresh Sierra Chart installation and a new setup. I have now managed to reproduce the issue, and I also found a simple workaround. For example, when the chart is configured as: Symbol: MNQZ26_FUT_CME Trade and Current Quote Symbol: NQZ26_FUT_CME everything initially works correctly, but at some point the historical fills disappear from the chart. The Last Day P/L value on the left side disappears as well, even though the Trade Activity Log clearly shows that I lost approximately -855 trading NQZ26_FUT_CME on Friday. I believe the issue may initially be triggered when I temporarily remove the Trade and Current Quote Symbol because I want to view historical MNQ trades, and then set NQZ26_FUT_CME back again. I will continue testing this. WORKAROUND: I set both the chart symbol and the trade symbol back to the September contract, MNQU26_FUT_CME. After the chart reloads, I immediately roll the chart forward again to the current December contract, MNQZ26_FUT_CME. After the second reload, the fills and Last Day P/L appear again. The attached video demonstrates the issue clearly. Simply changing the contract back and forth causes the missing fills to reappear on the same chart. This does not appear to be expected behavior, unless there is some setting or workflow requirement I am overlooking. EDIT: Interestingly, after switching the chart back to the September contract, the Last Day P/L still shows the -855 loss from Friday, even though that loss was generated while trading NQZ26_FUT_CME. This suggests that the trade activity itself is still loaded and available to the chart; it is only the display of the fills which appears to get into an inconsistent state until the contract is switched/reloaded.
