Recently the Sierra Charts software forced me to upgrade to a new version notifying me that the current version was no longer supported. After upgrading I noticed the alert system GUI and possibly the backend was changed. The new version appears to have introduced software bugs preventing the alerts from working properly. The Alerts window has failed to provide any data since the upgrade. The display is completely blank where before the upgrade it would list the alert that triggered and allowed me to edit it. With this new version's Alerts window the Edit section is completely broken. See screenshot. There are now alerts being triggered by the software based upon drawing on my #5 chart that are not visible to me. These alerts constantly go off and I am unable to disable them. Within the Alerts Manager it list the alert triggered. When I click on the individual alert then select the Edit menu -> Edit Alert is whitted out along with a number of other options. It seems the upgrade introduced several bugs into the alert system that has caused the alerts not to work properly. The constant repetition of invisible alerts without the ability to modify them has had a negative impact on me. Please view the screen shots and assist. I have posted this on the forums incase others have encountered a similar issue. |

The reason your Compact Alert Pop-Up Window is blank is because there were new items added awhile ago to allow you to control what gets put into your logs. This is controlled through the "General Settings >> Message Categories". The option for "Unset" controls whether an item will show in your "Compact Alert Pop-Up". Make sure that is set to "Yes". There also was an issue at one point where all those items were set to "No". So if they are all set to "No", then we recommend setting them all to "Yes", so you will be able to view the information in your Message Log, Trade Service Log, and the Compact Alert Pop-Up. -- There are now alerts being triggered by the software based upon drawing on my #5 chart that are not visible to me. These alerts constantly go off and I am unable to disable them.
Go to that chart and open select "Tools >> Manage Chart Drawings Window". In that window, look for a Horizontal Line at a price level of 7777.00. We think this may be set to be hidden. That is the drawing that you will need to modify/delete in regards to those alerts showing up. -- Within the Alerts Manager it list the alert triggered. When I click on the individual alert then select the Edit menu -> Edit Alert is whitted out along with a number of other options.
We are not seeing anything unusual in that menu. The option for "Edit Alert" and other items being "grayed out" is correct functioning. You can not edit that alert directly from the Alert Manager. You need to go to the individual drawing and edit the alert through the drawing (or from the Manage Chart Drawings Window). Thank you for your help as always. The above corrected the issue. With a new system in place takes a bit for me to adjust. Your instructions made it very easy to resolve this issue.
