Hello, While I definitely see a very good improvement times in the overall 'Performance' tab in the last months builds (given my active studies), the initial launch of the soft is very buggy, starting with the last 2-3 stable versions. I'm recording 2-3 intermitent times of about around 40-60 seconds of freezes each (Not Responding) and flickering from maximized and windowed mode without touching anything (mouse or keys). I have a very powerful windows 11 ltsc machine, I'm a sysadmin, so it's not about my operating system, this issue is very much alive and I assume present in most of other windows user's machines. This is just a report, not a complaint, I know it will get solved soon, thanks for your software! |

We do not know what the problem is in your case: I know it will get solved soon
There is nothing that we even know to solve. As long as Sierra Chart is not abnormally shutting down, this is just simply a case of a lot of processing occurring. Probably loading chart data. The only issue we are aware of in a recent release is related to opening a spreadsheet. And this has been resolved. This was fixed and was a very minor internal issue. Just make sure you are running 2880. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. Furthermore we notice no performance problems opening a Chartbook.

Also this type of wacky behavior, is very well-known with Windows: and flickering from maximized and windowed mode without touching anything (mouse or keys).
It is just an absurd operating system behavior. We do see this kind of behavior from time to time, not specific, to Sierra Chart, but just simply programs running on the operating system when the desktop is under a high load. So we are not aware of any problems at all at this time. None. This report gives us no indication of any problem at all. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I understand, thanks. My only observation was that this behaviour was not present in earlier builds, or at least I did not experienced it. And I can tell you that it's not processing overhead, since the cpu does not exceed 10-20% during this initial load and freeeze stage. I do have a spreadsheet loaded during the initial instance load. Anyway, it's not something that bothers me, I made a habit of firing off sierra, cancel login, check for stable update, then get off of chair for a few minutes until this is fully loaded. Afterwards, it behaves brilliantly. |

Please do note that my trading chart (footprint with dom attached) was averaging 18-26 calculations/draw time in ms, now its down to about 5-7 ms. Which is huge, given I have about 26 active studies - with a chart update of 50ms. So kudos for whatever was done under the hood. PS: Im using Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC especially to keep the updates to the minimum (security updates only) and still windows will be windows, I know. |
