I asked Chat GPT what the difference was between the formats in SC: VXH26-CTE AND VIXH26_FUT_CTE It said that the "FUT" form is the more recent and updated form. It said we should eventually change the charts. 1-Are both the same in accuracy? 2-Should I change them now, when? 3-Will SC do it automatically? 4-I imagine that's for all charts, not just CME? Thx |

PS: Also, when I went to download the new format chart at 4:10p est, nothing came up. Then I realized its bc of the temporary CME closing 4-5. BUT, I noticed it blanked (erased, nothing showing) all my CME charts. It doesn't do this to my normal futures charts when I accidentally download at the temporarily closed times. Is this a CME thing? They all came back up when it was back open, but why did it blank my existing CME charts since that should be in my already downloaded data (which it was, it just didnt load the chart. I RE-loaded, but nothing.) |

ChatGPT is pretty correct on their statement regarding the symbol formats for the CFE. It really does not matter, there is no difference in the data between them. It was just the way the symbols were originally setup and then a decision to use a different format later. The better option is to use "VXH26_FUT_CFE", as if there were to be a consolidation at some point, then this would be the one that would get used. Just be careful, as you need to use the symbol consistently. You can not have some charts with one symbol format and others with the other symbol format. This will cause an issue. -- The only reason we can think of for something like this to occur would be that your charts are setup to only display 1 day of data, therefore when you opened them during the closing of the CME, you were actually into the next day, so there was no data to display. But there is no reason for there to be an issue due to the particular timing of when you open the chart. The CME being closed would not have an impact on this (apart from what we state above). Thx FYI:The days to load is set at 30. No big deal as it populated once the CME was open. Still strange. |
