I scalp US stocks and require frequent switching of symbols when fresh news come up (only by F5 > Changing "Symbol" & "Trade and Current Quote Symbol", not by other means). For stocks that I have traded a while ago e.g. DPRO, the .scid data file size is significantly larger than those that I have never traded (and hence way longer loading time when I search up DPRO few days later). Below are a list of things I've tried in sequence: 1. In "Chart Settings > Data Limiting", Set "Chart Data Type" to "Intraday Chart Only", Set "Days to Load for Intraday Chart Data Type" to 2. I then clicked "Delete and Download Data - All Charts" at current time on the DPRO 10s chart, it wiped the historical data and loaded 2 days of data, which is great. But after restarting SC, the chart loaded up the full historical 10s data from May 2025 again instead of only 2 days suggested by data limiting settings. 2. Deleting .dly & .scid data files for DPRO in C:/SierraChart/Data After deleting data files for DPRO, upon restart of SC, it took a long time to load up data since May 2025 again so this didn't work. 3. Tried "Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Deleting a Chart Data File" and "Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Cleaning Up Old and Unused Symbols for Efficiency" I followed these 2 links, didn't work, full historical data loaded upon restart. Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Deleting a Chart Data File Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Cleaning Up Old and Unused Symbols for Efficiency The problem was that I did get rid of the data file with all methods, but when I load DPRO after restarting SC, it loads all the data that I downloaded a before and slowed down the speed of retrieving the current price of the 10s chart. Please help, Thanks. |

Start by setting the "Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download" to a small number. This will control how much data actually gets downloaded when you delete the data and it needs to redownload it. Refer to the following: Data/Trade Service Settings: Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings) Also refer to the following tool that will allow you to compress older data into larger time increments so it will load faster: Intraday Data File Management For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Hey John, Data/Trade Service Settings: Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings)
This works perfectly and it's loading very quickly now. Thank you. |
