Problem with saving Quoteboards

When you open a new file in most programs use 'save as' to give it a name, there will be some sort of marker added to that file so it will never ask you again what name to save it as.

For example, open a new Excel spreadsheet, save it as '2025-Budget' and Excel will never ask again what name to save it as. It knows because there's some sort of marker added when the file was first created.

Not so with a Sierra Quotebards where sometimes it doesn't ask what name to save it as (because it already knows), and other times it does ask as it seems to have forgotton the original name. This makes it very confusing to those who use many different Quoteboards because we might have forgotton the name of the original file.

Many of my Quoteboards don't need updating that much but when I do, the Sierra/Data/ box sometimes pops up asking what name I want to save it as - but it should never ask this, unless I use 'Save as' instead of using the normal 'save'.

Thanks.

The Quote Board itself is not saved as a separate entity. It is saved within a Chartbook, so if any Quote Boards are open when you save the chartbook, then those Quote Boards will open again when you open that chartbook.

If you close a chartbook, you are given the option to save the Symbol List. This Symbol List does work as you expect it to. If you load a particular symbol list, then if you ask to save the list (File >> Save Symbol List, or close the quote board and respond "Yes" to save the symbols) then it will not prompt for the name of the file to save to. If you have not loaded the Quote Board from a symbol list, then it will need to prompt you for the file name to save the symbols.

We just tested these different scenarios to ensure it is working as expected, and it is. We are not seeing anything that is out of the ordinary. Even if you close Sierra Chart and open it again with a Quote Board open, then add to that quote board and close it and specify to save the symbols, it does not query for the filename, as it remembers it from when it was originally loaded.

Thanks, it only happens about 25% of the time which is strange.

One of my Quoteboards is called 'Main-symbols' and 1-2 times a month contracts roll over so I need to move to the next month. When I do that I click 'save' and 75% of the time, it does just that. But 25% of the time the box comes up asking what/where I'd like to save. That was my point.

Having said all of that, it's a very minor problem so if you can't replicate it, forget about it, I'll just adapt.

Thanks once again.

We are not able to replicate it. If you can come up with a method that makes it easy to replicate, then let us know and we will look into it from there.
