i have a weird issue.

i have quite a large system with 15x 43" displays. its running ubuntu 24 lts.

whenever i close sierrachart and say "No" to if i want to save or if maybe there was a power outage and the pc was shut down without properly shutting down sierra, the next time i open sierrachart, all chart windows appear on the monitor i have my mouse pointer, all on top of each other. and then i have to look through the backup folder and usually one of the backups, typically from 3++ days ago (why not yesterday is beyond me) works but all the work of the last 3 days i might have done to the layout is then gone.

while this is very annoying, unfortunately it gets worse as this also quite often (it seemingly gets worse) when i correctly shut down sierra. in the last week i had 3 incidents with that issue and this is REALLY annoying.

it doesnt matter how large the chartbook is, it usually never disappoints and fails when not saving the chartbook under linux. maybe it has something to do with my 15 screens?

now, i could've reported that early, that is on me. but it would be absolutely glorious if someone either knew what i do wrong or if SC dev could have a look at this.

We do not see how this is a Sierra Chart issue. Refer to:
Window Size and Position Not Restored When Opening Chartbook

There was an issue, with certain type of non-chart windows like the Trade Orders window, where it may have been reset to a default position under certain conditions when it is created. This has been fixed in the current version.

But this does not affect charts and would not have affected charts.

hmm, the weird thing is, it is reproduceable if i close sierra chart and say "no" to saving and it works (mostly) just fine, when i save the chartbook on exit.

while i understand that its probably very hard if not impossible to fix, i still think its weird that i can force the issue when i dont save in sierra chart and its hard for me to understand how the operating system would know i did not save the chartbook on last sierra chart exit
