Hello Sierra Chart Support Team, I changed some personal settings in my instance 3 (customize Chart Drawing Menu) and would like to transfer them to instance 1 using the sierra4.config file, but it's not working. Can I do this, or do I have to change the settings in instance 1 and then go to instance 3? Thanks for your reply. Regards! Bernd Hertfelder |

There is no issue in copying the Sierra4.config file from one instance to another. Just make sure that Sierra Chart is not running in either instance at the time you do the copy. There is one small item that could affect you when copying the file, and that is the "Path" to the "Data" folder. But if you have the option for "Global Settings >> General Settings >> Paths >> Always Use 'Data' Folder within Main Folder" set to "Yes", then this should not be an issue. Refer to the following: General Settings Window: Always Use 'Data' Folder within Main Folder (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Paths >> Files and Folder Paths) What exactly occurred when you copied the file? What did not work? For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-09-16 17:07:34

Hello, I had a similar problem this morning. After copying the sierra4.config from my main instance to my 2nd instance, I set back the selected service of my 2nd instance to "DTC - Sub Instance" as it should be, but I had a connection error "Cannot connect to self" or something like that. I couldn't resolve it so I fixed the problem by creating a brand new instance. For the next time, is there a solution to this problem ? |

Sébastien: We do not know what this was. We have not seen that kind of message before. We would have to investigate it when it is occurring, but since you have already resolved the issue, then there is nothing we can do at this point.
