Hi, i've lost some tool configs (specifically text tool configs) after updating. Have tried to save them again but each time I click the config button from the toolbar the text actually disappears. Also, on the Properties -> Config tab I see a 'Load only' message next to the config name in the 'Value' column that wasn't there previously. Any clues? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-07-08 23:57:45

Hi, i've lost some tool configs (specifically text tool configs) after updating.
There is no reason for this to have occurred, so we can not say why or how this would have occurred. Have tried to save them again but each time I click the config button from the toolbar the text actually disappears.
When you select a configuration button from a Control Bar, you are changing the configuration for a selected tool. So if the configuration is set to have nothing displayed for the text, then this would be a reason for the text to disappear when you select the configuration button. Also, on the Properties -> Config tab I see a 'Load only' message next to the config name in the 'Value' column that wasn't there previously.
This was changed to be more obvious of what is occurring when you select that option. It is not saving the current configuration, it is just loading the selected configuration. Possibly related to this, I have a custom study that displays the values of some calculations. The text no longer appears on my charts as of the 2772 update last night. In the Studies window the DLL does not show anything like the study didn't load or anything. The test just doesn't appear on the chart. Thanks, Mike

Are you able to select the study, like you are adding it to a new chart? In other words, is the study showing up to be selected?

Yes. I can add the study without any problems. The text just doesn't display. I have tried the add study on multiple charts on two different installations of SC on the same PC.

Can you please share this study with us (i.e. upload the DLL to this thread)? You can add it privately so nobody else can see it. We want to see if we see the same issue. Sure. See attached. If you need the source I can provide that also. The study checks for SC Id. Would you prefer I add a user or should I take out the Id check and recompile? For now I have attached the DLL requiring a user Id.

We hope you do not mind, but we added ourselves to the list and tested. We do see the same thing you are, it works in version 2771, but does not work in 2772. We have removed ourselves from the list of users for the study. We will pass this along to Engineering to take a look. We are not aware of any changes to ACSIL that would cause this for this version, but that is what they will need to look into. Also, FWIW if it helps. I have a custom Fair Value Gap Study that has lost its control to turn a midpoint line off & on. If you turn it off in the inputs the midline disappears then pops back on immediately. Pics attached.

Is that not fixed with the update to 2773?

I understand this, what I'm saying is when I change and save the configuration of a text tool then use the toolbar buttons to modify the text properties based on the toolbar config, the text actually disappears off the screen (ie it erases the text rather than updating it to the desired config) - no matter which toolbar buttons I save the config to. Make sure the "Default Text" in the configuration has nothing in it, particularly a space that you may not visually see. A space would change the text from what is present to that space when you change the configuration. If that is not the issue, and you can reproduce this, then get us your Sierra4.config file in the main Sierra Chart installation from your system.
