Hi SC,

I have 2 instances of Sierra Chart both pointing to the same directory for TradeActivityLogs, but the orders and positions are not synced. By that I mean I enter a position from one of the instances and the position line does not show in the other instance and vice versa. I am using Sim (Trade Simulation Mode ON).

Is there any way to remedy the above ?

All the best,

Definitively do not do this:

Do not do this! This is not going to work right and is going to lead to all kinds of problems.

What you want to do is fully unsupported. Fully unsupported.

Each instance of Sierra Chart must have its own separate Trade Activity Log folder.

Alright I'll change that as suggested.

But don't you think it's a valid use case to have let's say 1 instance with charts (read only with respect to the trading logs) etc.. and 1 instance with doms (where you do your trading). Then it would make sense if you could view your position line / stops / targets on the charts instance right ?

You can do this for Simulation Mode. In this case, you need to use a Sub-Instance (started with "File >> New Instance"). You can not do it with two separate installations.

In this setup, you would keep the Main Instance in Simulation Mode and disable the option for "Trade Simulation Mode On" in the sub-instance. Then perform your trading in the sub-instance. You will then be able to view the information in both instances.

Keep in mind that what is occurring is that the sub-instance is sending the trades to the main instance and the main instance processing the simulated orders. As such, any orders that you place in the main instance, will not show in the sub-instance, as the main instance is in simulation mode and hence will process its own orders.

Refer to the following:
File Menu: New Instance (File)
