Using the US Equities consolidated tape data feed, I am trying to load 1000 days of hourly (intraday) chart data in Sierra Chart, but the chart only loads about one month of data, even though I have set the chart to display 1000 days. I want to view a much longer history of intraday bars, but Sierra Chart seems to limit the data to just the most recent month. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: I set Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Days to Load to 1000. I checked Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download and set it to 1000. I used Edit >> Delete All Data And Download to try reloading the data. I also followed the advice on this page: Historical Intraday Data (Missing Data / Download Errors / Viewing More Data): Downloading/Viewing More Historical Intraday Data Despite these steps, the chart still only displays about one month of hourly bars. I am not sure if I am missing another setting, or if there is a limitation with my data feed or symbol (tried TSLA AAPL MSFT). What other steps can I take to resolve this so I can view 1000 days of hourly bars. |

Does the chart have a scrollbar, or did you remove it? Did you scroll the chart back to see further data in the chart? There are two of these settings: I checked Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download and set it to 1000.
Make sure they are both set to 1000. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. Ok that's something. The problem was my chart symbol was previously set to use continuous contract for futures. I set it to none and now it loads more history when I edit the 'Date Range in File >> From' field. But now each time I enter a new symbol it reverts to ~30 days of chart history. How do I force it to load the correct data for all symbols? |

The "Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download" generally sets the amount of data that is loaded for a new chart. But, if you have saved the option for "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Save Days to Load, Intraday Bar Period, Graph Draw Type as Default" then this will set the "Days to Load" to a specific value when you open a new chart. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Save Days to Load, Intraday Bar Period, Graph Draw Type as Default (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Chart Data menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I tried what you suggested. It's still not working for new tickers. I have to manually edit the 'Date Range in File >> From' field to get the correct number of bars displayed. Any other ideas?

What are your settings for "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download"? When you start a new chart, what is "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Days to Load for Intraday Chart Data Type" set to? In answer to your questions. Both were set to 1000 days. Interestingly, when I added a new intraday chart to the chartbook, and entered a fresh ticker, it did load the correct chart history. For some reason the existing linked charts weren't loading the full chart history, even after I applied all settings discussed above and redownloaded the data. Then I created a new intraday chart and added it to the same link number and enabled symbol sync. As a result, all the other linked charts now load the correct data. So, problem solved in a way, but I would like to know why updating the existing chart settings didn't work in the first place. Thank you for the help. Much appreciated. |

The settings for "Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download" only applies for a completely new symbol to your system. If a symbol already has data existing on your system, then the above settings do not apply. In this case, the system just goes back to however far you have the data already for that symbol. In this case, you have to force it to download more data by using the "Date Range in File From" (or creating a Continuous Futures Contract Chart, if this is a Futures contract).
