Pivot Points: Forward Project Pivot Point Lines

When this Input is set to Yes, then the Pivot Point lines extend forward beyond the last bar in the chart for the number of bars specified with the Number of Forward Project Bars Input. To scroll past the last bar in the chart, refer to Right Side Fill Space.

Number of Forward Project Bars input does not seem to exist for this study.

Also the behavior of setting Forward Project Pivot Point Lines to Yes does not entirely match its documented description.
It does not only extend the Pivot Point lines forward beyond the last bar in the chart, but it also plots the next day's projected pivot points.

This is actually what I was intending to do so it's working perfectly for me, but the mention of a non-existent Number of Forward Project Bars input and no mention of plotting future pivot points was confusing to me.

Did I overlook something? Thanks!

There are two studies documented on that page - "Pivot Points - Daily" and "Pivot Points - Variable Period".

We do see an error in the wording for the "Forward Project Pivot Point Lines" in the section for the "Pivot Points - Daily" and we have corrected this.

We also see that that Input was not referenced in the "Pivot Points - Variable", so we have resolved this as well.

We do not understand what you mean by this:

The forward projected lines are extensions of the existing lines on the chart from the last bar. So they are NOT the next day's pivot points - they are just extensions of the current day's pivot points.

And we are not sure what part of the documentation you are referencing that is not correct in this respect.

This is not the behavior I am seeing.

They are not only extensions but recalculations to project the next day's pivot points.
I have calculated the next day's pivots manually to verify their accuracy, and they are accurate.

However, on a 5min chart the next day's pivots do not appear.

I have included the Study Name and Input Values to the chart header for more context in these screenshots.

(60 min, shows next day's pivots)

(5 min, does not show next day's pivots)

I see it is documented at the end of the page.
Pivot Points: Forward Projecting Pivot Point Lines

According to the above, the study might plot the next day's pivot points if the next session occurs within 10 bars after the chart's last bar.
This is clear to me now, maybe some info and a link for reference could be added to Pivot Points: Forward Project Pivot Point Lines as this behavior seems to have had confused us both.

Either way thank you for your fast support!

It is definitely something that does not come up often, as it certainly was not "top of mind".

In addition to what is stated in that documentation, the reason why you see this is that you are referencing a Daily chart, so the last bar is being found and those extended pivots are based on that current bar. Keep in mind that the data is not fully accurate until the day actually closes, since the Pivot Points for the calculation you are using depends on the close of the bar.
