Issue with Playback on Sierra Charts

Hi there,

I'm experiencing an issue with playback on my charts. When I set a start date, the chart moves to that date but then stays stuck and doesn’t progress. If I rewind using the cursor and hit play, it only plays up to the date I originally set.

I have been using chart replay for the past two years without any issues, but this problem just started occurring. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Sierra Charts and have reset all settings, but the issue persists.

Could you please review my account or help me resolve this? I would really appreciate your assistance.

Thank you!

Hello David. Press F5 on each of your charts; Data Limiting Tab; Days to load for intraday chart type = <same for all charts>. Sesson Times Tab; Session Start and End time = make sure these overlap your playback period. e.g. If you are trying to replay at 7am and your Session Start time is 8:30, the charts will playback as you described. I'm CST so my Session Start Time = 170000 and Session End Time is 165959, and Use Evening Session = No.

Change the Start/End times in Global Symbol Settings per symbol so you won't have to adjust Session Times per chart again.

This statement: " If I rewind using the cursor and hit play, it only plays up to the date I originally set." does not make any sense to us. What do you mean by the date I originally set?

If the replay is running, then it will continue until it gets to the current time. There is no other option for it to stop at some other point unless you specifically stop it.

Keep in mind, if there is a gap in time, then if "Skip Empty Periods" is not enabled, then the chart will appear to pause as that time is ticked off behind the scenes. Refer to the following:
Replaying Charts: Skip Empty Periods

Also make sure that if you have the option for "Start Paused" enabled that you select "Play" again after first starting the replay and the chart reloads, in order to get the replay actually running. Refer to the following:
Replaying Charts: Start Paused

Hey John, thanks for getting back to me. The fix initially worked, but for some reason, it just stopped without any changes on my end. It will start playing correctly using the fix, but it only plays one day. For example, if I start on May 1st, it won’t continue to May 2nd. I do have the "Skip Empty Periods" option enabled.

Regarding "Skip Empty Periods", refer to:
Replaying Charts: Automatic Skipping of Periods Where There Is No Trading and Synchronization

It will not immediately skip an empty period necessarily.

Hey John,

I let my chart run overnight, but it still only played one day. I’ve reviewed the replay chart settings on the Sierra Chart website, but nothing seems to be working. Are there any other solutions you can suggest? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

-Dave

Stop the replay for all charts. Set the Replay Mode to:
Standard Replay

Reference:
Replaying Charts: Replay Mode

The date you are specifying to replay the chart at, does that date actually exist in the chart? You have to be able to scroll back to that date. We recommend, just following the standard instructions for replay:
Replaying Charts: Basic Chart Replay Instructions
