i am a long time SC user.
i installed/applied a new study to my chart.
this one study (among other studies on the chart) is doing something that i've never seen before.
everytime the "studies" windows is opened and the "apply" button is pressed, this study recalculates and replots. all of its plots disappear and takes at least a few minutes to recalculate/replot.
the other studies on the same chart does not do that.
the study developer tells me that SC is doing that and there is nothing he can do to fix it.

how do you stop this?

Find another developer?

It is certainly feasible to persist study data so that it is not lost/erased when you "reapply" the studies.

That is correct, when "apply" button is pressed, ALL studies will be recalculated, it is a matter of persist data (when a study appear to be not doing anything), and the efficiency of studies.

Right. This is by 'default' what happens with any (and all?) SC-delivered studies. depending on the studies used and their inter-dependency, it could be detrimental to modify and apply study collection during live trading. I always hit to control button to disable autotrading first and then modify collection and then re-enable auto trading to circumvent any unintended impact.

not sure what this means but probably applicable only to custom developed ASCIL studies. disclaimer: upon numerous attempts, I still don't understand what triggers the recalculation protocol and how to design collection to completely prevent recalculation. I have given up on this effort and moved on :-)
