Hi guys

I m using 20 K trade per bar chart with bollinger bands.
After updating to latest version, history was lost when opening my chartbook, it started from scratch from march 9 2025 5 PM chicago time. no data previous to this was available.
Therefore I also lost the 20 period Bollinger bands.
Why is history lost after a version update?

Please advise
Regards

There is no reason for data to change after an update.

Refer to the following for how to load additional data:
Historical Intraday Data (Missing Data / Download Errors / Viewing More Data): Downloading/Viewing More Historical Intraday Data

Hi John thank you for your reply.
Unless I am mistaken, my settings show historical chart days per bar: 1
this normally does not affect the Bollinger Bands as explained in my post. until there is an update...Am I wrong?

please advise

thanks

There is no reason for an update to have any effect on a study, unless that study was updated for some reason, which, even when it occurs, is always done in a way that the previous calculations are kept available. But there have not been any changes to the Bollinger Bands study recently, or for a long time. Therefore, there is no reason for there to be an issue with the results due to an update.

Additionally, there is no reason to see any difference in the loaded data with an update. At least, no more than would occur with any restart of the system (we wonder if this may be what you are seeing).

Keep in mind, Sierra Chart continually adds data to a chart and does not remove old data, regardless of how many days of data you have set to load, until there is a full recalculation of the chart, which typically would not occur unless you add a new study, or change a setting. When you restart Sierra Chart, this will also occur. So if your days to load is set low (say 1 day) but you do not typically restart the program, then you may have multiple days loaded and the Bollinger Bands were fine, but then when you updated, the charts reloaded to what is set for the settings.

Otherwise, we do not know why the amount of data would have changed after an update. But again, if you then need to load additional data, refer to the following:
Historical Intraday Data (Missing Data / Download Errors / Viewing More Data): Downloading/Viewing More Historical Intraday Data

hi John

Now this is getting annoying: it has reset again this morning. It reset from march 23rd at 5 pm ET. And my chart settings are: Days To Load for Intraday Chart Data Type:3

what's going on ? since I have not modified in any ways any studies.

please advise

The "Days to Load for Intraday Chart" is the number of calendar days. So a setting of 3 would only show data on a Monday from the Sunday night just before. This is because the three days that are included are "Monday, Sunday, and Saturday". If you want to have at least 3 days of trading data showing in your chart then you need to increase the actual value such that on Mondays you will have Thursday and Friday, which would require a total of "5" days of loaded data.
