Hiding weekend columns during days/times the mkt doesn't trade

Is there a way to hide the columns during the weekend that the market does not trade? I have tried the options on the 'Weekend data' list in Chart Settings but doesn't solve the problem. For example, my markets (Asian timezone) close on Sat morning (local time) and re-open Mon morning. The chart still displays the columns between Sat and Mon. When I do my prep work for the week ahead and the mkt opens on Mon, the empty columns between Sat and Mon disappear and all my lines/drawings/annotations move because the gap disappears. I then spend crucial time during the open readjusting things. Is there a way to avoid this? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-12-08 22:51:41

See if you have the following option set to "Yes". It sounds like you want this to be "No": Chart Settings: Include Weekend Columns Before First Trade (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Bar Period >> Chart Bar Settings menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I just checked and it's already set to 'No' However, 'Include columns with no data' is also set to 'No' - should this be set to 'Yes' (per the description in the link you sent)? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-12-09 23:08:24

If the setting for "Include Weekend Columns Before First Trade" is set to "No", then we are not sure we are understanding the situation. It sounds like you were saying that there are bars for the weekend that disappear when trading starts on Sunday night/Monday morning. Is this really what is occurring? As to the other option, it depends on what exactly you want to see/do. To confirm, the chart continues to display columns over the weekend during non trading time and then those columns disappear as soon as the market opens on Monday. I don’t want it to display these columns.

We really need to see an image when this occurs. It should not be happening when the option for "Include Weekend Columns Before First Trade" is set to "No". Keep in mind that there will be time shown in the time scale for those dates as the system is always showing upcoming time in the forward projection area. But you should not have any actual bars showing. Refer to the following for how to control how much time is displayed in the forward projection area: Chart Settings: Number of Forward Columns (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Display >> Chart Display Items menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Here's an example from the weekend for symbol MJNK (Mini Nikkei 225). Chart 1 is as of this morning (Monday AM Japan) before the mkt open. You can see the empty space between Sat AM when trading stopped last week and the second blue line (Mon 8:45 AM) when the mkt opens. Chart 2 is just after the open. The empty space has now disappeared but also the example trendlines have also moved because the gap has disappeared. I'm trying to avoid this situation from happening. Chart settings are as follows: - Weekend data set to 'Load Saturday' otherwise I don't get Fri/Sat overnight data - Include weekend columns before first trade is set to 'No' Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-12-16 01:02:09

The times that are showing before the open is the "Forward Projection Area". Refer to the information we gave you on this in Post #6.

I understand the fwd projection area. I have it set to 500 which allows me to see up to Monday's close. If I have it set to any less then I can't extend drawings into Monday's area. But I still have these unnecessary columns between Sat end of trading and Mon open which disappear at the open and modify the chart drawings. Is there any way of not displaying these columns but still be able to see Monday's columns? |
