Hello Sierrachart support,

I have two different Sierrachart installations but have noticed that when i make a modification to one of the installations (adding charts etc.) it also changes the chartbook setting on the other Sierrachart installation. I have checked the paths in globalsettings > general settings > paths and the paths are entirely different. However yet, when I make a modification to my chartbook I see it appearing in the other installation. This only applies to the chartbooks because when i change a global graphic setting it does not synch. I do not mind it doing this but I would like to know why this is happening. Please let me know.

Thanks

This should definitely NOT be occurring. If the paths are set properly so that the "Data" folder for each installation is set for that specific installation, then the only way something like this could occur is if you have something setup in the operating system to do this. Are you running some kind of sync'ing software or did you setup a folder as a link to another folder?

Thank you for your reply. I do not use any software that syncs. What is unusual is that this update in chartbooks only happens for the chartbook that I added and not the examplechartbook, that is by default the first sierrachart charbook. I am surprised as well as to why it happens. Its not a big deal for me enough to delete one of the Sierrachart installations and reinstall to test if it would happen again, but I just thought this may be a feature to have two separate installations with a synced chartbook.

It is entirely possible, you are using the same folder for this Chartbook. Since the Chartbook does not have to be located in the Data Files Folder. Use File >> Save As to save each Chartbook in each installation in the Data Files Folder of each installation.

I am seeing the same behavior. Two separate installations in different directories but Chartbooks are synced between them somehow? I confirmed that the paths for the Data Files folders are different as well.

Besides the above information, one other possibility is that if you copied the settings from one installation to the other and you are opening the chartbooks using the "Recent Files" list in the "File" menu, then those recent files are actually referencing the old path and not the new one. In this case, we recommend clearing the "Recent Files" list by selecting "File >> Clear Recent File List" and then opening the Chartbook by selecting "File >> Open Chartbook" the first time. From that point forward, you will be fine to use the Recent Files list.

Yes.I open the chartbook from the recent files and copied the installation files as well. I will do as instructed and circle back on this. Thanks!
