Hello

I’m the owner of the thread “SC Version 2711: Unresponsive SC on ongoing Backtest“. This got solved in version 2712.

This morning, I did upgrade to version 2714.

I run the same backtest as in the thread “SC Version 2711: Unresponsive SC on ongoing Backtest“. This specific backtest takes 3 minutes 20 seconds in SC 2700/2712. With SC 2714 it went to 6 minutes 4 seconds.

SC 2714 CPU process usage in Task Manager keeps oscillating between 2% and 16%. See the attached 30 seconds movie.

I did the same recording with SC 2712. The CPU remains at 15%/16% during the whole backtest time. See the attached 30 seconds movie.

Overall system CPU utilization while backtesting is 25%.

I’m back to SC 2712.

Kind Regards

I did some tests with different Chart Update Intervals than the default one of 250ms.

Findings:

Fastest backtest with Chart Update Interval on SC 2714 is 550ms. Unfortunately, instead of 3 minutes 20 seconds it does take 4 minutes. The SC process CPU utilization does oscillate less. At 550ms between 12% and 19%. At 250ms between 2% and 16%. The more you get away from the 550ms the more the CPU utilization does oscillate. The CPU Frequency is oscillating between 1.8 GHz and 4.6 GHz.

SC 2700/2712 oscillates between 4.57 GHz and 4.6GHz. SC process CPU utilization is almost stable around 16% and 18%.

I’ll stay with SC 2712 for now.

To clarify. I just talk about backtesting with a study doing all the work. I don’t interact with SC except stopping the running backtest to change the study parameters.

According to the SC support board there are others complaining about laggyness interacting with SC by keyboard/mouse since SC > 2700. I never tested that. It doesn’t mean I don’t have these kinds of problems. I just don’t know because I’m currently totally focused on automatic backtesting.

im back to 2700 for the 2nd time in 24hrs, anything above that is laggy, just moving the mouse over the DOMs is very slow, even clicking on different menus and buttons, its lagging alot.

v2700 is still better than v2714.

From another post of mine:
Rapid cursor movement stalls at intervals with v2714 using 500ms, less so when increasing, but still present at even 2000 ms.
I have no stalling of rapid cursor movement in v2700 at 500 ms.

I’m backtesting with 2712 for six hours. Got the Chart Update Interval from 250ms down to 100ms. Backtest time went from 3 minutes 20 seconds down to 3 minutes 09 seconds.

Most of the time it is in between those times. I guess it depends on how hot the CPU is.
