Deleting Files

Dear Sirs

Request:

I was wondering if Sierra Chart would consider introducing a more robust, and efficient way to
permanently delete files. I exclude backups from the request for understandable reasons.

By way of example, here is the issue --

I have a dated chartbook on the system, and wish to delete it.

File > Open Chartbook > CL-Intraday.Cht selected > Delete File(s) > Refresh > Close

I am certain there are no references to the said file, used elsewhere on the platform.

I run a second instance of Sierra Chart.
The file is not present on the Sub instance.

Tomorrow, the file is back, annoyingly, on the list.

There are two solutions I tried:

(1) Delete the file from the SC Data folder, however this cannot be done whilst the platform runs.
Which makes it very inefficient.

(2) Delete the files, and all the updates, on the SC website.
It is a very tedious task, especially with a lot of updates.
Every file has to be deleted individually.

Stopping file downloads is not a solution, since, as far as I know, all file downloads then cease.

In summary, the following would make the deletion process must more efficient:

(1) Deletion on the platform is permanent, except for the backups.

(2) Create a batch delete function on the web platform for dealing with files, and all the updates.

With thanks,

Ben

If you delete a file on your system and then it shows up again when you restart the software, then this means that you are setup to get that chartbook from someone. In which case, you need to turn off the automatic downloading for that chartbook.

We just want to make sure you understand the above. We do understand your requests and have noted them, but we can not say when we would get to any particular item.
