Hello SC, While working with the SYMBOL SETTINGS I noticed: NEW DAILY BAR START TIME is set to 18:00:30 How big of a deal is it? I already changed few of my instruments to 18:00:00 Should I revert them back? Please advice. |

Not sure why we set it that way.

May I know the difference between Global Symbol Settings: New Daily Bar at Start Time and Global Symbol Settings: Start New Daily Bar at Session Start and how is the precedence determined? Right now, I'm using Charting Settings > Symbol > Session Times so the global settings were not affecting me fortunately. In future, I would like to rely on the global settings. |

Those settings were not properly documented. I still don't see any information on why the default "New Daily Bar Start Time" is set to 18:00:30 specifically. Is it safe to set it to 18:00:00? Will that have an impact on the Weekly open price for example, or any other side effects? The reason why I ask is I'm trying to figure out why the latest weekly open on ES in SC is different from another platform's weekly open. |

We do not remember why it was set to 18:00:30 at the time those were created. Most likely it was to ensure that if new data was received at 18:00:00, then that gave enough time to get the data before starting the new bar. But, in general, there is no reason to be using the option for "Start New Daily Bar at Start Time". If you have this set to "Yes" for the symbol you are working with, then we recommend setting it to "No". Although, this would not have anything to do with the Weekly open for a chart - the above just affects when the next daily bar is shown in the chart - it does not affect the data itself at all. If you give us an image of the chart and the information on how you have the bar period setup, then we can try to mimic your setup and let you know what we see for the weekly open. We will not compare to other charting systems though - there are too many things that can be different, not to mention the data itself. https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1782312755450.png The chart with the discrepancy is set up as a historical chart, see screenshots for exact settings. It's showing the weekly open of the current week at 7576.75. On the other platform the same weekly open is at 7543.25. However, the previous weekly candles show the exact same price on both platforms as far as I can see. Of course it could be the case that the other platform is incorrect or calculates something differently, in which case I will put more trust in my SC charts, but I want to make sure I didn't miss any setting that could have caused this discrepancy, so if you take a look I will appreciate it. Not sure if it has anything to do with last Friday being a half trading day on ES? |

For a historical weekly chart, the Open of the week starting on Monday, June 22, 2026 is the following: 7576.75 Attached is an image showing this. This matches what you are seeing on your system. This is the reported Open of Monday June 22, 2026 from the CME Group for daily data. This is also the price of the first trade (Open) at 17:00:00 Thursday June 18, 2026 (Central US Time) - as the data from Thursday evening, Friday and Sunday evening are all part of the Monday trading due to the Juneteenth holiday on Friday June 19, 2026. Sierra Chart is definitely correct and usually is.
