Hello,

I am trading FX currencies with FXCM but would like to use sierra charting platform only to review volume studies in the futures currency market. I think, I would need package 5 but, which data package would I need? I don't need live data, it can be delayed.

I am on a limited budget, what would you suggest.

Thanks in advance.

You will need Sierra Chart package 3 which includes the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartHistoricalData.html

And it includes the Volume by Price study.

Thanks. Does package 3 include volume profiling? I don't need numbers bar, but need volume profiles, for futures currencies.

Is the data in package 3 delayed? If yes, how long is the delay.

Package 3 does include the Volume by Price study. Here is the documentation for that:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_VolumeByPrice.html

The historical data is delayed. The delay is about 10 minutes.

I am up and running and have charts open. I understand I am seeing delayed data, but how can I refresh update the chart?

Also, is there symbol guide for SC Historical Data, where can I learn to choose the right corresponding currency pairs to the futures market, for example in SC historical data list which is 6A, 6C, 6E, CL, and ES?

Thanks.

About every 20 to 30 minutes you can select File >> Disconnect and File >> Connect to Data Feed to update the data.

In the case of currency futures, the letters are reversed for the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. 6A is listed as A6.

You can find a list of symbols here as well:

Thanks. Under Futures - Currencies, I do not see C6.
I do see Forex >> ^USDCAD. What's the difference? Which will have the best and real volume to give accurate reading of Volume by Price?

Thanks for your help, right now I am only looking to trade C6 (6C) and a little ES.

If you are looking for the Canadian dollar this is the symbol:
Description: Canadian Dollar
Symbol: D6

The symbol with the ^ character is the spot Forex market.

The futures contract would be the best one to use for accurate volume.

Hello, thanks that was helpful. I am trading in the spot forex market, but would like to use the volume data in the currency futures market to aid my trading ideas.

- ^USDCAD did produce a Volume by Price profile, which volume was it using to produce the profile?

- 6D shows the inversion price from USDCAD, is it possible to change it but without losing any value of the volume by price tool and profiles?
>> I found the 1 Divided by Price study but after applying it, I cannot get the Volumbe by Price tool to show up, thoughts?

Please see here: http://screencast.com/t/OyCWXn53uSV

Thanks in advance.

It is using spot Forex volume and exactly how that is determined for that symbol, we do not know.

To create an inverse relationship Forex chart, and allow the Volume by Price study to be used on it, requires that the calculation be done at a lower level and we have to add support for that.

Thanks for the response and update.

What does this mean, especially the latter bolded part?

It means we need to add a feature to do the inverse calculation and that will be done.

Hello, I am happy using SC, it's fantastic!

I am using the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service which is delayed. Cost is still an issue, what is the most economical way to get the same quality data but not delayed?

Thank you!

Hello, Other than this being live (Sierra Chart Real Time and Historical Forex and CFD Data Service) is there any difference between it and SC historical data...especially in regards to generating VbP and Vwap tool.

I am comfortable with SC historical data but the only problem is the delay.

I have a live account with FXCM, am I eligible to use their data at no cost?

Yes, there is a major difference. In the case of accurate Volume Profiles and Volume Weighted Average Price, you will want to use the Sierra Chart Real-Time and Historical Forex/CFD Data Service.

The Sierra Chart Forex data feed does come from FXCM. It is the same..

Ok great, I wish I knew I had access to both SC Forex Data (FXCM) [data] and SC Historical Data (delayed) service.
I know I asked before but what is the difference between these two data service?

I did a comparison between SC Forex Data (FXCM) [data] and SC Historical data, used both to generate Vwap and VbP profiles. These two Forex/CFD data streams are virtually generating the same Vwap and profile levels. I do not have access to futures data, but I wonder how similar or different the futures Vwap and profile levels might be compared to the ones generated using forex data.

Here is a look at the two data streams:
Weekly levels: http://screencast.com/t/tvTBIJckicun
Daily levels: http://screencast.com/t/pG7KPMpH4

Thanks.

Why do you say you do not have access to futures data. You can get that with the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service.

We cannot answer the questions you have about the data. Perform your own analysis and make your own conclusions.

Hello,

When I was trading futures, I used this data: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php
I liked and trusted it very much, highly recommend it. Can you remind, does this data package include Forex and CFD data?

Also

Why do you say you do not have access to futures data. You can get that with the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service.
The Futures data your referring to in the quote, is that included in the SC Real-Time and Historical Forex and CFD Data Service, or is that only available in the historical (delayed data)?

Thanks

No it does not.

The futures data we are referring to is part of this service:

The data is delayed.
