Can you please indicate how to get an overlay chart indicator (clear method indicator) to correctly update without refreshing (control-ins or F6/OK)?

The indicator updates in real time but values CHANGE if chart is refreshed.

Setup
1) Renko charts for main and overlay charts
2) Real time data is working OK from IB
3) Normal and true data have both shown same symptom
4) The ONLY indicator is the built in clear method indicator

To duplicate the issue:
1) Replay the chart and Check for all charts in chartbook
2) Start replaying at approximately time: 11:53 date: 7/24/14
3) Pause at approximately at time 15:00 date: 7/24/14
4) Click Control-Ins or F6/OK
5) Indicator will change displaying the problem - see before and after images

Before refresh image: Look at the far right magenta colored indicator.

After refresh image. Compare magenta colored section after refresh.

Thank you

Make sure you have a tick by tick data configuration:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TickbyTickDataConfiguration.php

For the Renko chart, are you using one of the Renko studies or the Renko Bar Bar Period Type in Chart >> Chart Settings.

We see you provided the Chartbook, so we will check on how the Renko bars are created.

We understand the nature of the problem now. You are basing a study on a Overlay study which is overlaying a chart of a different timeframe per bar than the destination chart.

For an application like this, what you need to use is the Study/Price Overlay Study:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s118

You will need to set the Fill Blanks With Last Value study Input to Yes. If you have any other further problems, then refer to the available Inputs with the study and see what other changes need to be done if necessary to the Input settings.

We expect you should be able to get this to work properly but inherently this is kind of complicated.

Hi support. Thank you for the suggestion. I tested and the results are the same. I tested every possible combination in the study/price overlay study.

Some combinations were clearly not desirable. The attached chart was the best combination of inputs and it demonstrated the same issue.

before refresh:

after refresh:

I do appreciate your help and understand it can be complex.

A workaround may be to issue a refresh at specific intervals. What is the ACSIL command to for a refresh? I have looked but could not find one.

Thank you again for looking into this.

I think I may have found a way. Adding the study to the overlay and then referencing the study rather than the price action seems to be more stable.

I will try this and see.

I will test during trading hours tomorrow. At this point, it does seem to be working. Thank you!

this has also caused me a lot of wasted time finding out this program limitation.

SC Engineering, would you please add to the documentation something like:

"Refrain from making derivative studies call the Study/Price Overlay study, because these studies will not be accurately updated visually, whether in real-time or in replay modes"
