I've seen it's possible to list particular chartbooks you want to open automatically at startup, but you can't add a whole charbook group. So if you create/remove a chartbook from your chartbook group, next time you open Sierra Chart it won't be updated. You have to keep the startup list updated yourself.

So two questions here.

1. Is it possible to somehow set a default / add a Chartbook Group to open automatically?
2. Is it possible to enable opening whatever you had open last time you closed Sierra Chart?

1. There is not a way to automatically open a Chartbook Group.

2. There is not a way to automatically open what was open when you last closed Sierra Chart.

The only option is the one you already know about to open specific chartbooks on startup.
