Is there a way to make the Trade Orders and Positions Window under the Trade menu not be a detached window, but instead be a window that is attached and integrated into the main screen? Currently the Orders and Windows window disappears underneath the main program screen whenever the main program is selected/active, making it hard to monitor open positions.

No, but what you can do is enable on that window Window >> Always on Top.

The only problem with that is that the window always stays open/always on top even when not using SC. Would it be too much trouble to have this window attached and integrated into the program?

Yes and we do not foresee that being added. This is monumentally complicated.

It will remain as a separate window.

Just thought I would ask. Thank you for responding.

While I have your attention, in previous posts I had inquired about the P&L being based on the bid/ask instead of the Last price. I was ignored and received no response. So while I understand that basing P&L on the bid/ask may be too complicated for you to undertake, would it be too much trouble for you to possibly provide a simple .dll tool for your customers so we can get accurately tell how much money we are making? The spreadsheet created by another user Tomgilb for this purpose no longer works with your new non-clr version of the program.

I am not looking for and do not want to fight. I would just like to courteously and humbly request if this is possible since an accurate P&L is literally the most important feature of any trading software. Thank you.

This was implemented about two months ago and quickly removed because of various problems arising from it. Not due to any problems within Sierra Chart but due to inaccurate bid and ask data from external services and generally this was not liked by most users. We could make this an option, but then if someone uses it and it does not work as expected it creates more support problems . So we do not have much incentive to do anything with this right now.

This is generally standard support policy. If we were to respond to everything posted in here, especially promptly, we would be wasting so much time we would have little time left for development.

Is there any way it could be kept as an optional tool with a disclaimer for users, or maybe create a simple spreadsheet study for users? Every trader is different, but not accurately knowing what your P&L at any moment is the worst, especially when trading 24 hour markets where the last price is far away from the current bid/ask. I've never seen any trading program calculate P&L this way, so I'm not sure how other programs are able to calculate it properly using the bid/ask and the same data feeds SC uses. But it is obviously possible.

If you're not able to keep this feature, what suggestions do you have for traders in my situation who simply want to accurately know how much money they are making?

Would it be possible for me to obtain the older version of SC that implemented the profit based on bid/ask so that I can roll back my current version of the software to use it? I can't speak for other traders, but for myself, I would prefer slightly inaccurate bid/ask data than completely inaccurate profit calculations.

Or if this is not possible, would you be able to create a tool in your new spreadsheet that can do the calculation (since programmers may not be familiar with your new spreadsheet functions)? In this way, only the users who would like to use this calculation will use it without effecting the rest of the SC user base with additional support problems.

If possible, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Really the easiest thing for us to do is to add an option to use the bid and ask for the open PL calculation. We will do that.

YES!!! Hallelujah, Merry Xmas in June, ecstatic, cheerful, delightful jubilance to the HIGHEST degree! :-) The open PL was the only calculation I had been requesting all along! So this is so PERFECT and much appreciated! I can continue using the software! Thanks again!

One last question. Any idea of how long it will be before this feature is added? Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the status update. Words cannot express how happy and truly appreciative I am that you guys decided to tackle this. I can't speak for other users, but without that change, the program is rendered virtually unusable. To have the most powerful trading software on the market with the most innovative tools, but that doesn't accurately reflect the true P&L was frustrating. So thanks again! EXCELLENT!

One last question. Will the true bid/ask P&L be reflected in the Trading Orders and Positions window also?

Thank you so much! This simple addition has been the missing link for me. To be able to actually see EXACTLY how much money is being made on an open position is obviously invaluable! It works like a charm! Thank u, thank u, thank u...
