Hi, is there a tool that makes it easy to find historical weekly highs/lows and show them as horizontal lines on my charts ?

I can't see anything within the study tools and I've looked around the search facility.

Thanks.

you need to use the OHLC-variable period study

Hi, I'm most of the way there but not quite.

I'm looking for weekly highs and lows to show on shorter time period charts (eg 15 mins). Using the study recommended, I've hidden the open and close (which I don't need) but I can't seem to get a continuous horizontal line for each weekly high and low. I can't see an option to do so ....I'd also like to label a horizontal line with the relevant dates, preferably at the left side of page. I have draw style as line but have tried dash too.

FYI I set Time Period Length to 1, I have days to calculate set at 400 and Time Period Type set to Weeks.

Ideally I'd like multiple horizontal lines showing all the weekly highs and lows stretching across the page.

Thanks.

The study referenced above will give multiple horizontal lines across the page. I have my weekly study set to dash.

You won't get date labels next to your lines. If you set the charts vertical grid lines under chart settings to week this might give you what you want.

The problem I'm having is as illustrated in the attached screenshot of a 240 minute chart. All those red horizontal lines (dashes) are showing the previous week's low.... similarly with the yellow highs (lines)that then link up to the following week by turning up or down.

What I want is for each of those yellow or red lines to show as an unbroken horizontal line all the way to the right - not stopping when a new week begins. If it couldn't be an unbroken line all the way back in time to the the left of the week it depicts, I'd not be bothered, BUT I want them to continue to the right after the following week. So that I can look at current price movement and quickly eyeball week highs or lows from last week, three weeks ago, three months ago etc etc.

Perhaps this isn't the right study for that, I don't know.

The study cannot do this:
What I want is for each of those yellow or red lines to show as an unbroken horizontal line all the way to the right -

And no we cannot add this capability.

So there is no study or tool for marking weekly highs and lows with horizontal lines, other than going back in time and doing so manually ?

If you want them to extend to the right side, yes this is correct.

You could probably do this in a spreadsheet study, issue being you may need a really fast computer depending on how far you want to go back and how many other studies you have on your chart.

Assuming High is in column AA,

in K3, =if(and(K4=0, AA4>0, AA3<>AA4), AA3, K4) -->this will identify first change in pivot and hold that value
in L3, =if(and(K3<>0, L4=0, AA3<>AA4), AA3, L4) -->this will mark the next change that occurs and hold the value, but only after a high has been marked in K3, i.e. the second change
etc...

Just keep doing this for as many prior highs you want to show and replicate for lows and plot these columns. If you just want to show a certain number of the most recent, e.g. 3 most recent, then work it down from top instead of up from bottom. Too lazy to try it, so do one change first to validate and let me know if you have any problems. :-)

Today it is Friday, and I'd like me to show the this week's high and this weeks low on my current volume bar chart but I can't get it right, I only see last weeks high and low on last week period.

Is it possible to see the current weeks high, low counting from Sunday night open?

You can do that with this study:
