Is there a default setting in DOM for order execution quantity?

I've got a chronic bad habit of forgetting to re-set the order quantity to 1 after exiting trades. I often scale into longs or shorts and exit all at once - often 5 or 6 MNQ lots. On my next trade, I find myself accidentally executing 5 or 6 MNQ contracts when I intend to execute 1 because I didn't re-set the DOM's execution quantity. Is your DOM strictly manual insofar as execution quantity? Or is there a DOM setting I can make to re-set the order quantity by default back to 1 after I exit my trades? Thanks!! |

There is not a reset for the quantity. The system keeps the last quantity that was set until it is changed.

Hi John, (1) Are you aware of any workarounds to solve this issue from the trader's perspective (i.e. after an order is placed automatically re-set to a "default quantity"? This is also a major issue for me as it adds a lot of time and mental capital in fast markets and has proven costly on several occasions both in large unintended size on losses and large opportunity cost for unintended small size winners. (2) Additionally, is there a way to prevent entering too large an order PRIOR to actually submitting that order? i.e. I've set the Order Quantity Limit in the custom symbol setting but it only fails to submit it, yet plays the new order sound so I think I've placed the order but in reality I have not. So (2a) is there a way to set a sound to alert me to this having happened or (2b) Is there a setting that will not allow a size larger than the Order Quantity Limit? Thank you! |

1. There are no built-in automated workarounds that will set the Order Quantity to some value after a certain condition. The non-automated way to do this is to select a Trade Configuration that has the quantity set as you want it. We were going to suggest that you can create a custom study to do this - but we are not sure how you would do it such that it would not always reset the value when you do not want it to do so. But, if you want to look into it, here is the variable that you would want to use: ACSIL Interface Members - Variables and Arrays: sc.TradeWindowOrderQuantity 2. The Symbol settings are the correct way to do this. 2a. We are not sure what you are wanting for this alert. 2b. WE are not understanding this either, as this is what the "Order Quantity" limit does. (1) Got it thank you (2a) I have [General trade settings/Notifications/Play Alert for New Order] set which correctly plays a sound when I submit a new order. I have set the [General trade settings/Notifications/Play Alert for Order Rejected] to a different sound, however when I submit an order, that is larger than the limit, the only sound I hear is the "new order" sound, and in this case believe it makes sense to get the Reject sound alone or at least after the new order sound. The functionality of the platform NOT submitting the order works fine, it's just that I "hear" new order and default to thinking I've placed it if I'm scanning elsewhere after I've submitted it. I have the [General settings/alerts/additional settings/wait for prior alert sound to finish before playing next queued sound] set to "Yes" for all of my alert sounds. (2b) If I can get (2a) then disregard. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2026-04-09 18:24:32

2a. We will look into why you are getting the "Play Alert for New Order" sound when the order is not actually being sent and is stopped due to the order quantity limit. The "Play Alert for Order Rejected" will not sound in this case, as the order is not actually "rejected". It is not being sent at all. I was just testing 2a functionality and found that it has changed (for the better). The behavior I experience now is my rejection sound AND the order is modified to a qty that my "attached order" logic can execute at a size <= to the max order size. this is a great solution, thanks! |
