changing symbol through typing not possible on newer versions?

I have several versions of sierra on my pc , on the newer version of sierra I can't change the stock symbol on a chart by typing the new symbol ( + enter ) , ( I can still do this on the older version ??

This should not have changed, but check the setting for Global Settings >> General Settings >> Charts >> Symbol >> Support Symbol Entry from Chart Window and ensure that is set to Yes in the newer versions on your system.
