As per instructions https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails61.html I have created a spread difference chart using Heating Oil and Crude Oil.

The problem I'm having is that the price on the chart only updates when the Heating Oil leg (chart A) trades and not when the Crude Oil leg (chart B) trades. This is obviously not great. I have tried adjusting the settings but haven't had any joy so could you please advise how I can get the spread difference chart to update whenever EITHER leg (chart A or B) has a price change. Thanks

There should not be a problem with this. The chart should update whenever chart A or chart B changes.

We will need to get your Chartbook to test this. Please attach it by following these instructions:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile

It must contain only 3 charts.

We are going to be checking on this today.

We apologize for the delay, but it is something that has to be examined carefully and special debugging set up to see what the problem might be. We would not expect there to be this problem so we just want to confirm if there is this issue and correct it if there is.

We cannot accept this Chartbook or proceed with the test or offer any help at this point. As previously, requested, we need a Chartbook that contains only 3 charts. Nothing else.

Until we get that, we cannot help with this.

We do not spend the time to sort through users Chartbooks to try to figure out what charts to look at or what the configuration is.

What you need to do is close all of the charts that are not relevant, And remove all of the studies that are not relevant and then save the Chartbook under a different name and provide us that Chartbook.

We are looking into this in detail today. We have set up the test procedure last week. We see that the underlying notifications between the charts to trigger calculations is working properly as expected.

We think we have an idea of what might be going on which gives the appearance of this:
The problem I'm having is that the price on the chart only updates when the Heating Oil leg (chart A) trades and not when the Crude Oil leg (chart B) trades. This is obviously not great. I have tried adjusting the settings but haven't had any joy so could you please advise how I can get the spread difference chart to update whenever EITHER leg (chart A or B) has a price change. Technically this is not what is happening. But we suspect that there is a new bar added to chart number 1 which is not yet present in chart number 3 so it is not using that value. Could this be the case?

The way this would be solved is that the Difference study would need to have an input where it would always use the most recent value from the chart being referenced for the last bar chart it is contained on. We will add this and then you can test it. This will be the easiest way to isolate the problem.

Excellent news. The solution you suggest sounds ideal. Is the change you are making to the Difference study something that will be complete soon (this week) or are we talking longer? Thanks

It has been completed and it should be out this evening.

There is a new input with the study named: Use Latest Source Data For Last Bar.

I cannot see the new input with the study named: Use latest Source Data For Last Bar.

Do I need to make any adjustments or other changes to be able to see and use this new feature to correct the Difference study? Thanks

The solution above works perfectly. Could you please add the same new input with the study named: "Use Latest Source Data For Last Bar" to the study: Spread Butterfly. Currently the spread butterfly study chart price changes only when the price of chart 1 or chart 3 changes ie not when the price of chart 2 changes. Many thanks

We had forgotten about this.

We are doing this now:
Could you please add the same new input with the study named: "Use Latest Source Data For Last Bar" to the study: Spread Butterfly.
