Hello Sierra, In an ideal world i'd like to be able to store my personal data (chartbooks and general settings) in a specific folder that is automatically backed up, and store the cached market data into another folder that is not backed up (as it is only a cache, and it takes huge amount of storage). After reading the documentation i understand that this is not possible. The solution i'm trying to setup is the following : 1. move the /data folder outside /sierrachart main folder, as documented => that is ok 2. setup the automatic backup on /sierrachart main folder, so that general settings are backed up => that is ok 3. for my chartbooks, the only way i see is to store them into a third folder (not /data nor /sierrachart), so that i can auto-backup it too - but each time i open SierraChart i have to change the folder in the Open Chartbook dialog. Is there anything i did not understand ? Is there any easier way to do ? Is there a way to change the default chartbook folder ? Thank you and sorry if i missed something. |

Is there any easier way to do [this]?
Yes. Leave everything where it was, the default Data folder is fine. All you need to do is to tell your backup software to ignore *.scid, *.dly, and any other files you don't need backed up (e.g. Market Depth Data). Alternatively, you can tell your backup software to only backup your *.cht, *.dll, *.scss, *.twconfig, *.StdyCollct, and perhaps *.txt. |

Thanks, but my backup software can only filter folders, not file extensions. And I cannot change the backup software. Any other idea ? |

You can setup a Robocopy copy script to copy specific files to another folder. Look at method 1: https://chrunos.com/sync-files-windows-10/ |

Great, thanks. In my understanding : .cht = chartbook .dll = custom study binary .StdyCollct = study collection .twconfig = trade window profile .scss = don't know/didn't find any Which file extension(s) should I add to also backup global settings (graphics, menus, control bars, tools, symbols, charts & DOMs... all that very important & time consuming stuff) ? |

Got it, From SC root folder I need to add : *.config files *.data files /DefaultStudySettings folder /SymbolSettings folder Or just backup the whole SC root folder (100Mo is ok), if /data is still moved out. Maybe easier. Please correct me if i'm wrong. Otherwise the subject can be closed. |
