Data/Trade Service Setting

Could some please explain to me how to setup the setting for live data feed.

The service for the one that I'm paying is, Service Package 12 - Advanced MBO + Denali Data Feed, amount =$56.00 dollars.
If you could guide me to what would be the best one for me I would very much appreciated, thank you.

We need to know what exchanges you want real-time data for. For instance, do you just need data from the CME Group, or do you want data from EUREX, CFE, U.S. Equities, etc.?

We need more specific information other than just the US Markets. Are you just looking for the main U.S Equities data (NYSE, NASDAQ, and AMEX), or do you want BATS, and do you also need Futures data and if so, which exchanges (CME Group, ICE US, etc.).

We need to know the specific exchanges for which you want data, as you need to activate the specific exchanges, so we can not give you proper instructions without knowing what you need.

Hello John,


If BATS has all US equities and future data, I should be good. CME Group should be fine, I just what to make sure that the following selection doesn't have addition cost to the plan that I all-ready have.
If you have any other consideration that I would be better let me know.

Account at AMP. data transfer via CQG (WebAPI). The connection with AMP is established. PROBLEMS with the data feed. I've read the instructions. But without success. I get the letter [M] and I cannot call up the historical and intraday symbols.

Hello, I'm having the same issue. Recently switched to Denali data feed(haven't disconnected from CQG data feed yet) in order to use CQG order routing, Sierra chart is connected through cqg web api. I don't see the letter M and the historical chart isn't available for expired contracts. This was the reason I switched to Denali data feed, so apparently I'm not connected to it yet and still using cqg data feed.
I also have a funded account with AMP.

To get the U.S. Equities and CME Group Futures you would need to use both the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed (for U.S. Equities) and the Denali Exchange Data Feed (for the CME Group).

There are going to be additional costs, as there are the fees for the data feeds themselves and then the exchange fees. The Denali Exchange Data Feed fee is built into the package you currently have, so you would not pay extra for that.

With regards to the U.S. Equities on the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed, refer to the information at the following link, which also includes the Setup Instructions:

Your Sierra Chart account which you have logged into this Support Board with is expired. So we know what Sierra Chart account you are using, go to Help >> Support Board from within the Sierra Chart desktop program and then post in this thread telling us this is done.

Also, you should post this in a new thread, as it is not related to the topic that is being covered in this thread.

Looks like it's all good with the connection to denali feed through CQG Web API option as soon as i got disconnected from cqg data feed and left cqg order routing only.I can see letter M now. But the problem remaining is that on a TPO chart i got data only from 2021-09-09 although on a weekly candlestick chart data goes as far as 4000 days according to what was set in days to load. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1634156982377.png

TPO charts are based on Intraday data, not the historical daily data. These are two distinct data types for Sierra Chart. The daily data is just the OHLC and Volume for each day, whereas the Intraday data has every trade recorded (depending on data feed and some settings).

The point is, that you have to be more specific about how many days you want for an Intraday chart (anything less than 1 day) whereas the Daily (and higher) timeframes load all the historical data available.

In terms of the Continuous Futures Contracts, refer to the instructions here:

My problem is that when i'm connected to SC data-all services, i have all the continuous contracts. But when i switch to CQG WebApi where it's only order routing through cqg but data comes from denali data feed package, I miss all the data for expired contracts.

Keep your Current Selected Service set to CQG so we can troubleshoot through this. Changing it around only confuses things.

Check your setting for Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Allow Support For Sierra Chart Data Feeds. Ensure that this is set to Yes.

If that setting is already set to Yes, then we need to see your Message Log by following these insructions:

Open a chart for the symbol you have an issue with. Tell us that symbol of the chart.

Your log is showing that you are getting the data for the previous contracts, so you should be good.

Ok, what is happening is that you are missing data in the middle of the chart.

This wouldn't help, using pointer feature to delete and download data before the 9/9/2021, and it's still the same, only actual futures contract available, no continuous intraday data.

Then try the following. Make that chart the active chart and select Edit >> Delete All Data and Download. When prompted for which contracts to delete, select all of them.

When i do that, there's a downloading continuous contract data display on an active chart and the other charts showing waiting to download historical data. It all stays still for half an hour like nothing's happening, so the only way of helping it out was to press translate service to current service, which showed that download complete with none of the continuous contracts had been downloaded.

First. Make sure your Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Current Selected Service is set to CQG and that you have the rest of the information entered to connect to your CQG account.

Second, on that same window under the Common Settings tab, ensure that the setting for Allow Support For Sierra Chart Data Feeds is set to Yes.

Third, make sure that the symbols are correct for CQG by selecting Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service.

Then open a chart for the e-Mini S&P 500 and ensure that it is set to be a continuous futures contract by checking the setting for Chart >> Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings >> Continuous Contract and ensuring that it is set to one of the continuous contract options (tell us which one).

Make sure the other settings for the chart are as you want them. Then let us know if you have a problem. Take an image of what you see and post it here for us.

All of the settings are set by the book. And when the connection is set to SC all data, all data is present. It's only when data connection is set to CQG webAPI I have this issue.

Removed tpo chart and i see a few gaps in data. The most recent is from 2020-12-29 to 2021-09-08 and another 2020-09-28 to 2020-12-09 and one more is from 2012-11-27 to 2020-09-09

This is very odd, as you should have the data fill in when you delete all data and download.

Let's try the following: With the TPO chart the active chart, go to Chart >> Chart Settings and remove the entry for the Trade and Current Quote Symbol (just blank it out by removing the text that is in there). Select OK to close this window.

Then go to Global Settings >> Symbol Settings and make sure the option for Use Custom Symbol Settings Values is Deselected (does not have the checkmark in the box next to it). Select OK to close this window.

Then select Edit >> Delete All Data and Download. When the window comes up to select the contracts to delete and reload select the Select All button at the bottom first and ensure all the contracts are selected. Select OK to redownload the data.

Let us know if the data fills in.

Use custom symbol settings wasn't selected before.
So i blanked out the trade and current quote symbol and When i delete all data and download it's showing Downloading Continuous Contract Data in blue, but nothing's happening, download just wouldn't start. The only way to get it going is to press translate symbols to the current service but it does it with a gap in data.
