Question about Scans...

So, I use the Scan feature a lot and although I don't know how it truly works, I assume it scans the symbols in my open chartbooks.

The problem is, my Scans are interrupted by the same symbol/s over and over again..matters not what the symbols are but the fact that I can't find them in my open chartbooks..so I can't delete them.

There has to be a way for me to find these rogue symbols and delete them.

I have like 20 chartbooks so please don't tell me that they're somewhere in the large catalog of chartbooks that I have and that the scan feature doesn't only just scan open chartbooks..if so, perhaps add a tick box so we can set the scan to only reference open books?

Ideally, I still think this great platform would benefit from having a "type symbol in this box" and we'll show you which Chartbook/s it's in. Seriously think this is an essential tool to help organize your services..

Just my opinion..

Looking forward to a solution to my issue with Scans for now..

Thanks.

Scans do not work like this.

Go to the chart you are starting a scan on and let us know if you have a checkmark by Chart >>Only Symbols in Watchlist. Here is the scanning documentation:

Actually, I have a separate chartbook just for scans as I don't like running them in any of my important chartbooks because I'll lose the symbol that was there originally after the scan is over.

Ideally, I'd have an IBM window open and after the scan, I'd have IBM showing once again.

Unfortunately, what happens is the last stock in the scan is the one that now occupies that window.

Anyway, no I do not have a checkmark there..

As always, I appreciate your help..

We recommend using the Associated Watch List and scanning through the list of symbols entered in that list.

I have over 300 symbols in 15 chartbooks...

You see, this is the frustrating part about my experience so far with Sierra Charts.

Such a great platform but lacking in some really basic user interface options.

Since the CW lists all the symbols in each chartbook why not add an "Add to Associated Watchlist" tick box somewhere in the CW list?..perhaps at the very bottom.

In this day and age no one should have to manually add 300 symbols so as to best utilize your Scan feature..no?

You can easily import a list of symbols into the Associated Watch List. It is documented near the end of this section:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_SwitchingSymbols.html#AssociatedSymbolList

We are going to be doing some work on the scanning feature in the next couple of days.
