Hello,

This support request contains 1 question and 2 bug reports.

My question: how can I stop SC dowloading historical data for the new chart with the new symbol I just opened in order to change the time period to download data for?

I tried to achieve this in the following order:

1. Open an intraday chart for a new symbol, downloading of intraday data starts automatically,

2. Open Chart Settings,

3. Change From Date, make it earlier than the date set by 'Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download' setting,

4. Confirm to re-download intraday data.

But SC continues to download data for the period that was set initially by the 'Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download' setting, only after SC finishes downloading data for that period, it re-downloads the whole data from the date I set manually.
If SC detects, that Date Range was changed manually in chart settings while it was downloading data for that symbol, could it stop downloading, delete all downloaded data and start downloading data for the new Date Range?

Bug 1:

1. Open an intraday chart for a new symbol, the download of intraday data starts automatically,

2. Disconnect SC from Data Feed,

3. Change From Date in chart settings to earlier date than the date set by 'Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download' setting, confirm to re-download intraday data,

4. SC will auto start to download data from the date I just set in step 3, but in somewhat disconnected mode: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1613940988212.png

Bug 2:

1. Finish downloading intraday data for all opened chart,

2. Open a chart with highest windows number to make sure it won't be the first chart to download data for after we reconnect SC to data feed, and set From Date to earlier date than the date set by 'Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download' setting,

3. Confirm to re-download intraday data, reload and recalculate the chart after a couple of days were finished downloading,

4. Disconnect and connect SC to data feed: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1613948437295.png , you see 2020-01-13 date on the chart,

5. While the chart is waiting to start downloading data, press 'Delete all Data and Download' command, confirm the action,

6. SC will start downloading data from the date determined by the 'Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download' setting, leaving previously downloaded data on the chart: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1613948458551.png

Disconnect from the data feed with File >> Disconnect to stop the downloads.

1, 2. Neither of these are bugs at all. This is expected behavior. We cannot spend any time trying to accommodate the behavior you are looking for. It is just not going to happen.

We are being very firm here because there are no bugs and we are not going to spend any time on this. The behavior is all correct.

First bug case is expected behavior?

SC is downloading data, I disconnect if from Data Feed, then change date range in chart settings and SC starts downloading data while being disconnected is expected behavior?

Again, SC is downloading data while being in disconnected mode.

Disconnect from the data feed with File >> Disconnect to stop the downloads.

What should I do next, if I want to change date range for a chart for which SC is currently downloading data?

Yes this is all expected in regards to post #3.

If you want to change the download date to an earlier date that should work as expected. A new download will start after the current/pending one finishes. The existing one will need to finish first. A later date would not be supported.

I'm really surprised and amazed by this statement, but after you confirmed this twice, I guess I've got nothing else to say in this regards. I'm not a SC developer afterall, it's just weird, such SC behavior.

A new download will start after the current/pending one finishes. The existing one will need to finish first.

Any chance that some day SC could determine the manual change in date range, after which it aborts current data downloading, deletes all data and starts downloading beginning from the new date?
